Evan Owens, the hero called Velocity can trace his lineage back to the great Olympian, Jesse Owens. As it turns out, Evan's family has always been fast. Evan himself was on his High School Track & Field team until one day, his speed blossomed fully and he rocketed off, nearly out of control. It was a no-brainer for the young man to take on the identity of a costumed hero...it would make his family proud.

Of course, at the insistence of his mother, he waited until after graduation to do so. If she had her way, he would have waited until after college as well, but Evan just couldn't wait. So, Evan operates as Velocity whenever his studies permit, as he attends college pursuing a degree in civil engineering. It's not glamorous, but as his mother is fond of telling him; "The world needs functional infrastructure more than it needs a guy in yellow tights."

Evan won't quit though, especially after his brother Derrick developed similar powers and uses them to commit crimes as the villain, Mean Streak.

Velocity has the ability to run at supersonic speeds and possesses powers cenetered around that ability. His reaction speeds are hundreds of times faster than a normal humans, as is his ability to process sensory input. His body is evolved to survive the rigors of hyperfast movement, including the ability to shunt heat, ignore friction and deflect small airborne particles that might otherwise cause injury to him. He can also negate the effects of speed and intertia on targets he can touch, bleeding velocity from falling people or objects, though he cannot do so to the point gravity or other tractor force is countered completely.

Outside his speed abilities, Evan possesses the physique of a man his age and build who engages in intensive physical exercise.
