Description [UPDATE - APRIL 2011]

Due to popular demand I have updated this pattern package with the complete set of flattened, tileable PNG images. You can use these with various programs such as GIMP, or even embed them in your websites for background use!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a highly requested set of patterns. Now you can't say you don't have any good metal mesh patterns

I use these in my interfaces ect. I made them using Photoshop, some images and a few styles. All styles tile together seamlessly

Enjoy, and don't hurt yourself

-14 patterns total!

USAGE DISLAIMER:

You may use this package under the terms that you do not claim as your
own, resdistribute, repack or reupload anywhere else!

I will allow this pack to be use for any project including commercial &
private work.

Please if you download or use, and I'll make more packs.

Thanks so much for creating this, but the license you've chosen: CC-BY-ND expressly contradicts the Usage Disclaimer above.

Creative Commons No-Derivatives specifically forbids anyone from using your work to build-upon and create new works with it.

Thanks.

Axertion In reply to LNBRG [2012-01-02 17:09:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah you're right. I just couldn't find a license that fit what I wanted. I don't mind people using this at all for commercial work...just as long as they aren't repurposing the textures and selling them/giving them away

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LNBRG In reply to Axertion [2012-01-02 17:17:39 +0000 UTC]

Then you want CC-BY-SA (Attribution-Same License only.)

That way people using your work must attribute you, and anything they create must be licensed the same way.

Allows commercial use, but it does allow selling, but requires anything sold must be licensed as CC-BY-SA which usually discourages selling to begin with.

But if you don't want to allow selling at all, then you're looking for something other than a CC license.

i used this as the base for several textures in a portal 2 mod im working on. ([link] ) is it ok to pack the textures i make in vtf/vmt formats for use in other mods/portal 2 mapping? credit to you in advanced.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Journey-Fox [2011-11-20 03:49:13 +0000 UTC]

um, by repack, you mean put these "as is" in a pack, right? cause, i have a bunch of textures who use one of these as they're source images, and i am planning on packing it as a level design texture pack in valve's vtf/vmt format. is that ok? those texture formats are a pain to decompile, so it won't be used other than portal 2 level design probably.

Axertion In reply to Journey-Fox [2011-12-17 06:37:30 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the delayed reply. What I meant is taking them and repacking them into your own package and distributing them.

In your case, you should be fine as you're compiling them for a specific purpose. As long as you're not taking the original .pat/png files and sharing them elsewhere, you're good

Can someone please explain to me how I would install these? I have placed the GIMP Pattern file into the Patterns folder in my GIMP folder. But the patterns arent coming up... please help

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Axertion In reply to DiscoPickles [2011-10-23 01:02:12 +0000 UTC]

As far as I know, Photoshop pattern files (.pat) will not work with Gimp. This is why I've included flat, tileable PNG images for you to use and import into Gimp. You can search around for creating your own pattern files in Gimp using the PNG files I've provided

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

DiscoPickles In reply to Axertion [2011-10-23 02:54:46 +0000 UTC]

Turns out, all you have to do is place all of the PNG files into the Patterns folder, and it creates the patterns. I thought the files had to be a certain type.
