Nightmare speaks truth, just in a less friendly way.
There are a lot of alternatives that may be applied for this situation.

Version 1:
P1: You sit tight, I'll save you from the enemies!
P2: So you just hang in there!
P3: Ah.. he said all the mean things but he's a true friend..
P4: ..Why did you fire at me?
The enemies were using camouflage and they hid behind you.
BS..

Version 2:
P1: Save me! I don't want to die here!
Don't worry.
P2: I won't let you die!
P3: What's this sensation.. could this be lov..!
P4: Why did you blasted me in the middle of a very touching moment..?
