How long did each individual one take? And I'm sure it depended on the detail as well. How long did it take to draw one of ther closeups of her upper half?

that's sad that you waste your patience and talent to trace something that already exist, I'm really curious how you would draw your own ideas.
cheers~

There could be a reference used, but that does NOT make it traced. It's fanart, that like something, they draw it. If you don't like it than ignore it, but it isn't traced.

fancy tea.fanart is not redrawing a drawing its redrawing the same character but your own way, pose etc something which wasnt done before.
the only skill here is the rendering but everything else is just...copy and the reference argument..doesnt work here

... so if I take a photo and draw it - without changing anything - then it isn't art (just redrawing) on your opinion?

rastafic In reply to MaasikaVaarika [2012-06-11 15:12:41 +0000 UTC]
well i was just reffering to drawings made by someone else ,who put some knowledge into to create someting, and to someone who traced or copied[in this case.see the process] exactly the same thing cm by cm no matter the medium.
Copying other people drawings for the sake of studying the style or whatever is not bad but in particular and cannot be called fanart[which this discussion was about].
Using photographies as refferences it's a good thing as long as you dont trace the contour.
I don't want to argue anymore, who want to learn the differences please do who dont no problem someone else will remind them to you.
And yes b-agt has great great rendering skills in graphite and watercolour,no invention, reinvention or originality.
Sorry if anybody got pissed off by my intervention.
Have a nice day

Shhh! I'm not pissed or anything like that, it was just an odd argument and I wanted to know what you mean with it, that's all.
Btw: I do agree with the "trace the contour" part. I know that some amazingly realistik drawers use it, but I personally think that it's cheating - you can't find this kind of contour when you draw from live, therefore in one point it will just be a nasty habit (yes, you will get more similar result from photo reference, but is it really worth it?)

Okay, whatever.
Definition of fanart according to Google: Fan art or fanart is artwork that is based on a character, costume, item, or story that was created by someone other than the artist.
Nothing about poses or anything.
I don't feel like arguing with you.

I like how it's done, because it's made with great skill. And that's why I've commented.

its up to them what they do. how about continue working on your own stuff and leave others to what they enjoy doing.

I'm not telling anyone what to do, it's just my point of view - that this artist got skills to tell own stories, make own worlds. But telling others what to do - it's not what I meant.

i never said you were. and you didnt really say anything about you liking it to begin with, so of course thats going to cause confusion with everyone. :/

I'm sorry to confuse, I thought that mention about artist's talent and patience was enough I've had no intentions to be snippy and I hope that B-AGT won't take it that way.

Just a quick question that's been bugging me for a LONG TIME!!...How the heck do you keep the pictures from smudging as you work on them using pencils?? It just blows my mind haha

MaasikaVaarika In reply to StarSongs [2012-06-10 20:17:09 +0000 UTC]
Yes, one thing, that helps is a clean paper under your hand (you have to change it time to time). The other thing that works for me is drawing from left to right (if you are right-handed). And of course when you are done then eraser is your best friend to help with cleaning And one day, when you start using easel, then you will learn how to hold your hand differently ... but this is another topic

I just can't do that hahaha, I mean, I need a base first and then start going into detail and all that. But what you say does make sense. Thanks

if you get a piece of tracing paper and put it under your hand as you draw, it wont smudge
