I've actually pondered moving to a fully clean lineart style, but thought overwise; it usually ends up very stiff when I do, just like you said. (:

Ahh yes it is very difficult to keep movement with cleaner lines, I find that too. Perhaps it's worth experimenting with just to see what happens. c: You might like the effects for pieces that don't need a lot of movement.
