. . .

Dinky breeders have been trying to create the oil breed for ages. Because of the liquid's thickness, dinky eggs have not been able to absorb the oil. People assumed that oil was a substance that could not be absorbed and that oil would have to be lumped in with the thickened breed. However, because of the existence of the soup breed, breeders were convinced that oil wasn't that much thicker than soup and that creating the oil breed was very much possible.
To everyone's surprise, the breeders successfully created a few oil dinkies in a surge of good luck. A few dozen more have been created since, however there are very few oil dinkies in existence. Hence, they have a rarity ranking of legendary, alongside the medicine and non-edible breeds. Unlike those breeds, though, it is not considered unethical to create oil dinkies. Many breeders have begun to dedicate themselves to creating just oil dinkies because of this. Since oil dinkies are so rare, they can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. If they're especially beautiful and look like the established standard, they can be worth millions. Oil cross breeds, while not nearly as expensive as purebred oil dinkies, can still be worth tens of thousands of dollars each.
Some have tried to create dinkies that look like oil dinkies but actually aren't, so there are a good number of phoney oil dinkies on the market that should be looked out for. An easy way to tell is if the "oil" is too thin or watery. Another is to look at the personality: is the dinky more indifferent and content, like a water dinky? If so, it is most likely a fake.
The personality of an oil dinky is very desirable: they are very therapeutic and caring towards humans and other dinkies. They pay close attention to the emotions of others and will not be afraid to approach someone if they seem sad. An oil dinky would be especially helpful if it was a therapy pet of some sort. Unfortunately, since there are so few oil dinkies and since they are so expensive, they are not often used for this purpose. Instead they find themselves in the homes of the people with the most money. Hopefully, if new technologies or techniques make oil dinkies more common, then their price will decrease and the people who would need them more will be able to adopt them.
