Description
This is a pencil test I did while waiting in jury duty. I have this idea where I do this pencil test as a base, but for the final I do every frame as a completely different character design from the previous frame. 37 designs in all. I hope this ends up looking cool. If not, then at least it will be a fun experiment. I plan on uploading each design onto DA as I progress. Hope this works! We'll see!Related content

Neat. What did you use? Jury duty seems like no place for a light table.

Plastic Animation Paper! It's free, and it's GREAT for digital pencil tests.

Hm!! Downloading, I will check it out!
PS is still my go-to, I hear it's got some AE integrated tools buried in there now that allow for more accurate timing. I'm being dragged kicking and screaming into Flash, but I guess knowledge is power.

Uuuhhgghg.. Flash..
What you SHOULD check out is TVPaint. THAT is some SERIOUS Digital 2D animation software! The brushes are incredible! You can customize them the same way as Painter where you can change the paper type and whatnot. One of my favorite parts of TVP is that you can storyboard in it, and each storyboard it creates is actually a full animation file system, so basically you can dive right into the storyboards and start animating them right there.
When I start my next personal animation project, I'm definitely doing it in TVP.

It wasn't my idea, so much as there being a local studio opportunity where the interview involved a paraphrased conversation along the lines of "we love your stuff, but our entire workflow is based on Flash. Do you know Flash?" and I went "Uuuhhhh, well... I can look into it". So now I'm looking into it.
And then there's this cat :thumb308495631: , who's done some impressive stuff in Flash: [link] , so it shows that it can be used well.
I'd heard the latest version of TVPaint was pretty good, but I don't know anyone who's really messed with it, and the samples they show on their website didn't blow me away (though maybe I just didn't find the good ones). I'll have to check it out again.

Having a strong flash background will make a HUGE difference. I'm SURE you can mess with it enough to fit your needs. I haven't done so myself yet, but I want to.
Yeah, I saw a couple of ok examples, but I was at a TVP presentation where he showed us how it works, and man, it's got some great tools.

I actually pulled out of all the cons for the rest of the year to focus on my main gig and new book (it won't be out until the end of the year). Sorry I didn't keep in touch on that.

Yep!
All signed up. But I had to cut a ton of cons this year to make way for work and new projects.
