Description
This is my first project I started in my IB Art class. It's taken me almost 5 months to complete because I took a short break when I was nearing the end of painting.
I was getting extremely frustrated with my work, and the paint was smearing because I was using too much of it and layering it on thickly without giving it time to dry. The skin tone was the worst for me.
After I finished three other projects I went back to that one. And I completely finished it. I'm satisfied.
This portrait is my style of drawing, and my imagination and nightmares are all incorporated into it. He is my "other shadow", my second personality. He's basically Matt. The real Matt.

The blindfold signifies secrets, mind games, a little sexual torture. It's a very prominent prop. The red was chosen because that color is one of the main colors I use to dye my hair, and also because the Matt of Death Note has red hair. Not only that, but the color signifies passion, anger, rage, and all those glorious hardcore emotions. It's violent, in a way.

The rest of the colors I've used are dark and secretive. The black, purple, and blue are all used to suck the character into the nightmare he's wrapped in at the moment. The white silky lines I have around in the background are almost like demonic ideas, spirits, or dreams. It's a very frightening portrait, in my opinion.

The last and final thing to identify is the smirk Matt has on his face. He knows what's going on, and he's satisfied with it. He's enjoying it. It's a mixture of a masochistic and sadistic smile, one of passion and sexual appeal. The lips are slightly tilted at the corners, and the cheeks are plumped in almost full grin, only his teeth aren't showing because he can't speak. He's wrapped so deeply in his dream that he can't find a way out, and he's all too happy to stay right in his fantasy.

This is my portrait of my alternate personality, the one if I would allow free would be so destructive to my life that I would most likely end up in an insane asylum, or suffering from mass sexual hallucinations.
