Julia has been doing good. Yes, she really was. She was sure of that. It's always been rare for her days to go by so peacefully.

And may it stay this way.

Today was a day like every other day. Well, except for the fact that it was the day of the competition. Grand Prix level Dressage with Ebony, the only class they were entering during their stay at the Expo grounds. Also their first start since who knows when. She wasn't nervous, no. She wasn't excited either. In fact she was feeling nothing.

Just another day.

She and Jacek hadn't spoken much this morning. Both were just doing whatever needed to be done. With him doing all the formal and organisational work, Julia could give all her focus and time to preparing her steed. When walked into the stables in the morning, he was already awake and fed, ready to face the day and whatever it would bring. He was standing here, with his head lifted up high and his ears perked, giving his rider a welcoming neigh. Usually, that sight would bring smile to Julia's face and fill her heart with warmth. This time however, she didn't smile. The blonde walked into the stall, gave the stallion a pet, then led him out and started grooming him.

All this felt authomatic. And it was. She brushed and combed his coat exactly the same way she always did. It felt like a chore.

Honestly? At this point, everything she did felt like a chore. A tiring, boring chore, repeated every day, done always exactly the same. Wake up, take a shower, get dressed up, eat... Go to the stables, brush Ebony, saddle up Ebony, take Ebony to the hall, work on the same manouvers and not improve a single bit... That's how it was. It wasn't exactly annoying, just boring and tiring and... Numb. It felt numb. She felt numb. But she did feel something heavy in her heart. It's been over three months, and she just gave up and just let herself live with it. It's not really hurting her, afterall. She doesn't feel happy, true, but she doesn't feel sad either. It's just absence of feelings.

At least, it seemed like the mysterious stranger has disappeared. Julia even started doubting if it was really a stranger. Every time someone seemed to be watching her, it was happening in more or less crowded areas - stables and show grounds. It was normal for people to be around. Her fear just seemed stupid and unreasonable. And so, satisfied that she doesn't have to deal with any of this, she moved on, with nothing except for a strange, heavy feeling. It felt like fear, but at the same time it didn't. But she pushed it aside, far away from her and the numbness in her.

"Hello?"

The voice snapped Julia out of her thoughts. She flinched, and looked around. It was Jacek, of course it was Jacek.

"That patch is clean, I think moving on to the next one would help a lot" he nodded.

Oh, right. She has been grooming the same spot for... How much time has even passed?

"Sorry" she stepped closer and continued brushing the bay's coat.

Jacek stood next to them for the next ten minutes. He didn't say a word, just stood here, with a smile plastered to his face. By the time Julia was spraying Ebony's tail, she had gotten a bit annoyed. He wants something. But of course, this is Jacek we're talking about. He's not gonna say it like a normal person, and will just keep playing these games for God knows how long. It's better to confront him now, than to have to deal with this for the rest of the day.

"How can I help you?" she asked with false politeness in her voice.

His smile grew even wider.

"I just wanted to check up on you. Have you done everything that needs to be done right now?"

She shrugged.

"Well, I was going to take Ebony for a walk now. Why?"

"Splendid. Mind if I join you two?"

Well, guess she's not finding anything out untill they go.

"Uhm, sure"
