Your art is very awesome!
I like this U-boat. Since it's a, atomic u-boat, this one must be bigger than conventional ones, Isn't it?

Thanks!

Only slightly. Here's the actual U-boat with its crew for scale reference:

i think i read a neil stephenson book once that had a bit about an atomic U-boat. Crazy stuff.Β Β

Oh jeez, that sounds wild. The design of the U-Boat in this scene was inspired by something probably equally as weird, it's based on this 1949 concept for a "jet sub" that fires underwater rockets.Β i.imgur.com/5c9J7Va.png

I get their flaws from a modern standpoint, but I love the visual design of old time submarines. A lot more variation.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BlastWaves In reply to Snowy-Aegis [2018-03-18 19:08:48 +0000 UTC]

I agree. You just can't beat the look of the classic U-Boat.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Snowy-Aegis In reply to BlastWaves [2018-03-18 19:42:48 +0000 UTC]

Hard to get a properly unique design with modern submarines.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

MisterArtMaster101 In reply to Snowy-Aegis [2018-07-25 07:19:53 +0000 UTC]

Actually... the U-Boat design continues on thanks to the Type XXI U-Boat -aka the 'E-Boat'- which is basically the first submarine in human history. Every other submarine on the planet is built upon the Type XXI's foundation.

MisterArtMaster101 In reply to Snowy-Aegis [2018-03-18 23:14:19 +0000 UTC]

Actually, fun fact: the Type XXI U-Boat -aka the 'Elektroboot' or 'Electric Boat'Β is the precursor to all modern submarines in terms of design. It would have been a nightmare for Allied ASW efforts if it was developed earlier.
