The guidelines given for character design were:
He's six foot nine (the picture doesn't literally have to be six foot nine, but if you want to, I won't stop you XD) with wide shoulders. His eyes are an ocean blue and he has pure white hair that reaches about halfway down his back, tied in a braid. His face is scarred(that can be optional, if you want to draw the scars or not), one scar from his left temple to the left side of his jaw(in a slightly curved line, so it passes to just the outside of the cheekbone), another diagonal scar on his right cheek, and one more from the line of his scalp on his forehead, across his right eye, over the bridge of his nose and all the way to the hinge of the left side of his jaw. This scar would intersect with the first one, of course. And his skin color would be a slight pale-ish tone. Okay, his clothes. He wears a black cloak and underneath a dark blue tunic with black leggings. The cloak can be open or buttoned, whichever, and should reach to his ankles, just above his feet. On the back on his cloak, attached to a buckle sewed into his cloak, is a large sword. About the size of Cloud's from Final Fantasy, but just a tad thinner, and a bit longer. The blade itself should be as long as he is tall, and then the hilt another foot or two added. Since it's so large, the sword would then (of course) be set diagonally upon his back, with hilt of the sword being to the right side. The sword is in a sheathe, which should be black but lighter than the color of his cloak. Also, he wears black gloves(same color as cloak), but if you want to draw him glove-less, on his left middle finger should be a pure silver ring, a wolf head with mouth open and fangs bared. The eyes should be inset with small, dark blue sapphires. For footwear, black (again, same color black as cloak) leather boots, with silver colored metal buckles. That's it, I think. If there's more, well it's my fault for forgetting my own character
