Hi is informal and used mostly with friends. Hello is like a salute but you fold your thumb onto your palm(letter b), palm facing forward. Hello is used for teachers/co workers and people you don't know.

Eye contact is important! Same with expressions (also called NMS or non manual signals).
NMS are used for types of questions and some sign meanings. Eyebrows are raised and head is held slightly forward for yes or no questions. WHq NMS is for who, what, where, when, why, and which questions. Eyebrows are furrowed, head is slightly tilted. With all questions, the last sign is held, waiting for a response.

(Most signs are done with your dominant hand unless it says otherwise).
