Description
Character I've created for the large video game project some friends and I are working on.
Duncan Idir Cane was a Chemogen, or a fancy-name for field medic, under the ranks of our game's Holy Empire. He was assault one day by a patient he was seeing to who had been attacked by a reanimated Corrective unit, and wound up becoming imbued with the same black-blood as the patient, who soon died. Duncan, however, lived and managed to adapt to the blood, learning ways of controlling it and so on, which all eventually led to his escape from the Holy Empire to meet his "creator" Seton Uryuu face to face.
Duncan later takes on the name Valmir J'markov, after the patient who had injected him with the black-blood, and called himself that after the transition between 1st and 2nd World. His goal was then to recreate the Corrective from scratch, injecting victims willing to his cause at first and modifying their teeth so as for the injection of the blood to be an easier and less painful process. He's basically the first vampire.
Since I tend to sneak little tid-bits of fun into my characters, here's the list of things Duncan/Valmir has hidden in his character:
Duncan's initials (D.I.C.) is the abbreviated name for Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation, a disease that causes abnormal blood-clotting in the veins. This fits Duncan, because as he learned to adapt to the black-blood, he begins to control how it flows through his veins and can "clot" up areas of his veins to harden his body to block attacks.
The middle name Idir actually means "Alive" in Tamazight. Ironically, Duncan is considered, to his own medical understanding and diagnosis, "dead" after adapting to the black-blood.
