Don't you hate when right as you're about to submit something, you spot something you missed? I hate that. Hope I didn't miss anything else...
I just can't seem to draw my character Elliott without redesigning him slightly each time. He's pretty much going full chimera at this point, hah. Bat wings for arms, cat/dog-like ears, monkey hand-feet, hooked wyvern-like tail, and back that kind of looks like a moth. I still don't even have an official name for whatever abomination species he is, but that kind of plays into the backstory of his species.
Long and still work-in-progress story short, there was a large group of scientists/cultists that were (illegally) trying to play god and make living angels. However, mammals don't have pretty, feathery wings like your iconic angel, so they ended up looking more like bats. Not to mention that humans don't usually have limbs sticking out of their backs, so their arms became their wings.
The cultists were discovered and shut down. Without knowing what else to do with them, Edaveden officials just released several hundred of the failed angels into society (assuming they were healthy enough to release, many were not). They never got an official species name, so society started calling them some not-so-nice things.
Elliott's part of the 6th generation. Thankfully for him, every generation seems to be improving in regards to genetic health issues. Sadly, his single mother wasn't so lucky though. She died at the age of 22. Elliott was only 2, so he doesn't even remember her. His kind still tend to have pretty short lifespans though, so he'll be lucky if he lived past 40 years old.
I still need to write out full bios for all my characters at some point, but that's such a daunting task. D:
Anyways, I'm glad to have this finished. I've been working on it for quite a while now!
