Description
:This shot was taken in Les Sables d'Olonne on the west coast of france, I thought the old style fairground ride on the front was worthy of a black and white shot.
I spent quite a lot of time on this in photoshop as I originally took the shot in colour, whith every intention of turning this B+W in photoshop. The shot came back from the lab awful and I had to correct a lot of the brightness and contrast meaning I lost all detail in the sky. I took the pic apart and put the clouds back in after I corrected the subject. I hope it turned out okay.
> I could really use some comments on this as I want to know if my patchwork pic was effective, thanks people!

I really like this pic, I'm no critic, but I think you did an excellent job. I like the b/w and the emptyness, it's perfect!

Great shot, a little blurry, but that is expected since you say you had a lot of work in photoshop. It is a very dynamic still: You see it caught in a moment and you can just hear the kids laughing on it. You kept the sky intact very well, and good choice not cropping out those chairs, the add a good frame to the picture. Nothing is distracting in the back--Great Job!

I agree with Princepoo. It was a good decision to put it into black and white, shows a really archaic and has an early '20's feel to it, especially with the deckchairs in the background - seems like seaside resorts around UK at turn of the century with whitewashed decks and.... Ooh I'll have to stop myself. It must have been a difficult shot to take, what with the roundabouting and all that, not to mention the wonderful, slightly upward angle exposing the maximal portion of seen carousel. LOVELY JUBBLY.

very moody, great presentation of the subject, it's almost... mournful. nothing is perfectly vertical, it gives a sense of naturality and purity not usually captured by photographs of carousels. good decision to put it in b&w.
great job, looks like all your work paid off!

considering what you had to go through to get that pic to turn out just right.....I think it's amazing for the amount of work you put into it. Great job

looks great - i love b&w pics anyway, but this oozes a feeling i can't really place. the emptiness and the childlike nice of the subject makes it eerie, but it seems quite peaceful at the same time.
Good work
