For some reason when I was a kid, in Super Mario Bros. 3 after defeating Larry in World 1, I misread The Letter From Princess Toadstool and thought it said "Ghosts will give CURSE if you turn away", and that the "Jewel enclosed to help protect you" was to be used around said ghosts.So I always wasted my P-Wing in the Fortress of the next World so that the ghosts wouldn't curse me.
It's strange the things we misinterpret as kids.
