Description This is one of several Kanohi masks whose shapes were originally made in official Bionicle art but their powers were unestablished. Swert of biosector01 and I came up with powers to use those shapes for the Aethion Expanded Multiverse, and Greg Farshtey canonized them as the powers for those mask shapes. Note that my art shown here is not canon. Many of these masks were only partially shown or were otherwise unclear; the sketch is meant to theorize what the rest of the mask looks like, and also to portray the EM version.

Official power, as defined on biosector01: "The Mask of Scavenging, also known as the Mask of Vulture, is a Kanohi that allows its user to mentally extend themselves and drain the residual life energy from the bodies of any beings in close proximity to them that have just died. This makes the user stronger and more able."

Bio from the 100-page Aethion guide PDF: "A similarly taboo mask except on Warzone, this mask reaches out to a wide area around you and lets you absorb the escaping life energies of any being that just died. Similar to a power in the Inheritance (Eragon) Cycle. Good beings
refuse to use this mask, seeing it as a mask that creates murderers; an evil power along the lines of the 2008 Makuta mask powers. Vultraz's mask shape. [Scavenging is the power name; Vulture is the nickname or alternate name]"

Vultraz was a Shadow Matoran in Bionicle's 2008 story and set line. The canon version of the mask shown above was actually made in plastic by LEGO but at the time they had not chosen a power for it, oddly. This power was canonized for the Great version of it. Later, it was canonized also as Makuta Icarax's normal mask; he was made in the plastic too but temporarily wearing the Mask of Shadows that really belonged to Makuta Teridax. So, Icarax proper can be made in plastic by putting Vultraz's mask on him. The power was inspired both by the vulture-like shape of the mask and Vultraz's name. Later Scavenging was chosen as the main name for it as "Mask of Vulture" sounds odd.

Some of the powers that Toa consider immoral are due to subjective emotional reasons, like the Kanohi Crast of Makuta Krika, or arguably the Mask of Undeath. But this one is seen as immoral clearly because it encourages murder, as the chances of coming across dead bodies through no fault of the user's own is rare.
