I've had it both on Gamecube and original dreamcast, and I don't know which is better 
On dreamcast version, the cutscenes are better lit and the chao gardens have more interesting...um...buildings in them. However, you can't buy things and there are SO many glitches it's unbelievable xD
On Gamecube it's a bit better in chao garden because you can buy more things and name your chao and stuff like that. However the cutscenes aren't lit very well and the dialogue sometimes overlaps each other. Also (and i'm not sure if it's just my controller or if it's a glitch in the game) sometimes it double-jumps when you don't want it to. It's REALLY annoying in boss battles, especially the egyptian golem thingy where you play as sonic and have to get up platforms on its back.
The game is still awesome though. I love it

I have the GameCube version (Sonic Adventure 2 Battle but I always thought it was Sonic Adventure Battle 2 until a few years ago XD )

I remember beating the crap out to Sonic Adventure on the dreamcast, but I've never heard of a Sonic Adventure 2 until today.

its a good game trust me I've beaten it, and its great!
but the dreamcast version has a level that is basically unbeatable, so get the game cube version (sonic adventure 2 battle)

its a boss battle after knuckle's stage called death chamber, the glitch was fixed in the gamecube version...
