I thought about this idea whilst painting, but I wanted the viewer in "close contact" with the leaf. it you see the ground too, you have to place the viewer farther away and the painting becomes a bit boring ; )

Very true!! But you could have the leaves still in the tree being the border, and their faces are as close as the leaf who is falling... but yes, the ground would be out of focus. I am not picking on your idea, quite the opposite! It is inspiring.

Haha yeah, the leaves commit suicide. Your drawing more of communicates that the leaf was chilling and then suddenly it just FALLS, which is terrifying and also a hilarious concept. XD

OH OH OH I READ A SHORT STORY ABOUT sOMETHIHNG LIKE THIS ONCE
it was about the last leaf stubbornly refusing to fall from the tree, and when he did fall it was the most glorious moment in his life. Sure it was scary, sure he didnt know what would become of him . . . but he didnt have any regrets.
