Description
My OCs have been a real comfort spot for me as of late. I dunno why, but fandoms and social media have been overwhelming and giving me far more anxiety than they should. It's why I don't mind the lack of traction when I post OC stuff. I've gone back to drawing and posting stuff just because it makes me happy, not to please the algorithm or gain followers. If people like it, cool! If not, that's okay too. I hope y'alll are having a great day out there, <3

Anyways, I've had this sitting in stash since last year OOPS, uh... As my last deviation stated, to go along with my series of character references, I decided to post Zane!

My original idea for his character was Abner/Matt's neurotic teacher that turned out to be controlling the staff / students behind the scenes (side character/villain), but over the years he's drifted very far from that concept. To be honest, I can't even call his present concept finalized. I still find myself revising it as the years pass. But despite said changes, I still hope to tie him back to Matt and Magneus's story in the future (or rather... tie them to HIS story considering... it's the more developed one)
And, as I've done for my other oc reference pictures, here's a brief description of him:

A sickly man who was overly babied while younger, resulting in stunted physical, mental and emotional growth. His rude and cold outer personality is due to being taken advantage of more times than he can count for being insecure, compliant and weak-willed. Due to a strange encounter from an otherworldly figure scratching his face, he developed a strange condition allowing him to bend reality itself, peer into alternate realities, and traverse/interact with other worlds using the combined energies of his other selves (very hyper aware of the multiverse without quite understanding how or why). It's hard to say which version aquired this power first, but use of it has grown and spread throughout his other incarnations in the multiverse. Despite being one of my more powerful characters, he can't quite control said power and it typically just overstimulates and overwhelms him (he's already an anxious person as it is, so it just causes more chaos around him than anything). Using the extra energy he's built up, he can extend his abilities and give power to others who may be weaker or not have any at all (so, in short, he's better as a support/buff than a fighter).

Unfortunately, his other universe selves, each from their own worlds and with their own unique lives and circumstances, pay the price and take this slow decent into madness alongside each other.

Currently I'm trying to develop these "other versions". For years most of them have just been roaming thoughts in my head, but it's nice to actually flesh them out...
