Spent the night back at one of my favorite locations to image from a couple of nights ago. There was still a bit of snow around from heavy falls earlier in the year.
With the central bulge of the Milky Way directly overhead and a crescent Moon setting in the west, I thought it was a good time to do another all sky panorama before setting up for a few timelapse sequences.
A lot of people on another site have said I should have called this image "Dragons Eye" and I agree that that would be a great title for this, but "Infinity" reflects what I was feeling on this night, as I spent a large part of it just lying on my back and staring up into night sky.
23 image panorama.
Canon 6D, 14mm, F/2.8, ISO 6400, 30 seconds.

From the thumbnail I genuinely thought someone had recreated the scene from The Hobbit where Smaug's eye opens, but they'd made him blind.
This is absoloutely beautiful by the way <3

A very good full frame digital SLR camera and a very good lens. A camera phone or a cheap digital compact camera just does not cut it when it comes to astrophotography.

I use a cheap hand me down camera
Another weird question, but what do you think is good for capturing bugs?
It takes me a while to get them to stay in one place long enough to get them most of the time...

I was going to say alligator eye actually, dragons are usually drawn a bit more idealized.

I agree about the eye idea, but I like Infinity more tbh. It looks like a portal to another realm, with infinite possibilities.

Amazing! I agree about the suggestion of "Dragons Eye" as a title, but "Infinity" gives another dimension to this beautiful piece of art indeed... I like it a lot!
