oh my gosh I finally see the face!! This needs one of those magnifier cursors for people of bifocal age like me 8). I like everything about this, the sketchy ink lines, muted watercolors and just the tossed back, languid pose. Work in progress? What else would you do; the piece looks great as is. The empty white space above the face really lets the details of the leaves etc. stand out. Beautiful gallery, beautiful piece. Gotta favorite it!

That looks so freaking cool. And usually, I hate this kind of stuff. But there's something about this that I love. I'm favoring

She looks like a stained glass window.
Question- How do you come up with your themes for a body of work? What is that process like? You have such a set style with your art, but your concepts that go with it are always interesting. Just wondering.

They are normally a response to something emotionally. With the violence of the flowers I wanted to find an excuse or a reason to create almost still life images that revealed a feeling behind the plants - it overtook another planned project pollination which I may return to soon and was very much a spur of the moment decision but I decided to focus for 1 month on a series of work ... there are a lot of other pieces not shown in the grouping as they deviated slightly from the feel of the series - but my ideas very much like the artwork tend to grow organically. I am kind of between projects now so I am making some exploratory drawings such as undergrowth just to indulge the automatic process! Sometimes it's nice to take the pressure off and just draw. Thanks for your comments

Is it just me or does it look like the head is coming to life through the paper? It's stunning.

I thought that in the photo ... weird - think it is just that angle!

yeah, i noticed it too.
but i think the nose hasn't a normal shape... it seems, though, that the head is behind the paper ready to rip the paper with the nose in its tip.

I think that maybe the color has something to do with it too. it seems like the face is more defined and then the neck and ends of the hair is kinda washed out or blurred. it helps to make it look like she's coming out of water or something.

i'm not too good at critiques, but i just wanna say that i love your art, it's very stylized, and it looks like you have a running theme with your paintings. i feel like they would make a really great gallery, and i totally wish i could see them in person
