Sandstorm bristled. "Who are you?""You should know who I am," the cat hissed. "ThunderClan destroyed my life!"
Sandstorm frowned. "What's your name?"
The Dark Forest cat stepped out of the shadows. "My name's Mapleshade!" With a hiss, she sprang. She landed on Sandstorm and pushed her muzzle into the earth.
"I'm going to make you pay for every blessing StarClan gave you!" Mapleshade growled in Sandstorm's ear. "And every blessing they stole from me!"
"You have everything I wanted, Sandstorm! A mate that loved me, kits that I could watch grow up and have kits of my own, the respect of my Clanmates! I should have had that!"

Sandstorm had everything that Mapleshade wanted. It didn't matter that they were strangers, Mapleshade was still jealous of Sandstorm.

Because her mate was the leader. Because her children and grandchildren were important and respected. Because she had always been loved and supported, even when she was a jerk.
Especially the leader and grandkits part though. I think it really got to Mapleshade that Sandstorm had the connections that she feels should have been her own, either in Riverclan or Thunderclan.
