Description

Rae is back, and this time along with someone you may recognize from my shitty pencil sketches from a year ago (on my tumblr), one of my few male OCs, Alistair. It’s also a redraw of this monstrosity .
I was gonna shade it and stuff, but I actually really like the look of the flat colours with the clean black lines (which by the way took forever and my hands are dying). I found that and the desaturated colours really made the red thread pop.
Most of the inspiration for the look and feel of their Terra came from East Asian, and primarily, Chinese cultures, which happens to be where the concept of the red string of fate comes from. Apparently according to my mom, the red string of fate is purely a love thing, which was not at all what I intended when I started working on this (whoops XD) but hey, their relationship was and is still sorta nebulous in that respect so take what you want from it, platonic or otherwise.
I’m also going to take this opportunity to establish that though ethnicity in Atmos is clearly not the same as here, Rae is meant to be Half-Chinese, and Alistair (despite his name which has its reasons I swear) is meant to be full Chinese. Whether or not my drawings accurately display that is another story though. XD
