Btw, Chocolat was a kinda surprising deus ex machina, no? I am afraid that made him another example of the "magic black character" trope.
Still, I would have liked to have heard a little from him personally - why did *he* decide to go and save Satine? Does he like her with Christian so much? Other motivations...? ( I mean of course canon Choco, not my snarky one here)
