Description Many people asked me about wigs and how I can part it were I want, how I avoid the netting to show up, how I get rid of blank spaces when I am styling a wig. the answer is very easy, I add additional hair. That's why I always buy long wigs, that look nothing like the character as base wigs. So I can cut hair from it and add it to fill spaces.
So, when I tell them many people tell me they don't know how to glue in additional hair. Actually, I never use glue, i don't know how it works. I sew. It's cheap and not that difficult when you know how to do it.
Yesterday I was talking abou it with *Majin-sama and told her, I am going to do a tutorial for her. She said it was helpful, so I decided I also might share it.

FAQ:
-I did it myself, this is my way to do it.
-I worked very sloppy because Sora was already finished when I did the tutorial and I just wanted to show how it works. This one part took about 5 minutes to be done. Normally it takes about 10 minutes.
-yes normal tulle was used.

Any more questions? Feel free to ask ^^
I hope it is at least a little helpful. First tutorial ever.

Edit: I was told sometimes the hair 'falls out'.
It never happened for me, but if it does happen, you can try to secure the hair with using your zigzag stitch and sweing over the tulle part again. If it still falls out, I am pretty sure a little glue will help ^^

Thank you ^^

How I made my YGO wig? Well, I used a black base wig, parted it into the spikes I wanted to have in the end. Where the net was showing, I added some black wefts. Then I added the pink wefts to the front spikes and the 3 blond wefts to the 3 middle spikes. When this was done, I sewed the front of a blond wig to the black wig. The rest was all styling and hairspray ^^

I liked it! It's a simple and clean idea to sew hair...
Here in Brazil is difficult to find proper material to add more hair to the wig :/ and if we do find, it's too expensive x_x
That's a nice alternative. Once I saw a tutorial that you needed to glue with some special material, and use a kind of hot iron... It's kind of dangerous, you know c.c

anyway, +fav ^^ it looks perfect

Yeah, it's hard to find the material 6.6 specially here....
You did a great job, as I said before, it's not very expensive, it's safe and easy to do ^^
And it's a good tutorial for the people who are trying to add hair to their wigs for the first time o/

This is a lot of help. but I have a "sort of" Stupid question...

Where can I buy a wig? Is there any store that you can just walk in and buy one or do you order most of them?

The only time I can find a wig is around halloween.

Thanks.

chibinis-chan In reply to Hippo567 [2008-11-04 09:58:05 +0000 UTC]

Nothing stupid about that question.
I get my wigs from the internet. There are several shops like [link]
But actually I get my wigs from ebay. There are really good sellers like "professional only" and many more. most of them are located in Hong Kong, but are cheaper than most shops and deliver good quality + many colors.

Did you have adjust you machine at all to sew with the hair and the tulling being so light weight?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

chibinis-chan In reply to AzerathinPrincess [2008-10-20 11:02:36 +0000 UTC]

I didn't have to adjust anything. My machine was able to sew it just like sewing normal fabric.

Hey there, fantastic tutorial but I have a lil question. If you sew the hair and nettin together with a sewing machine could the hair get caught up with the machine needle?

>< How did you sew it onto the wig exactly?
Oh, and do you use wigs with real hair, or some thing else?

Eh, sorry!! lol

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

chibinis-chan In reply to Knifeshadow [2008-06-08 00:52:50 +0000 UTC]

I can't afford real hair wigs, so it's just the normal artificial hair they use for wigs.
Well once the wig is pinned to the head, I part the wig where I want to add the hair. Then I sew it on the wig by hand. Nothing special and once I am at the end of where I want to add the hair, I do the same thing again backwards on top of the first layer. So I can just part it in the end and have a nice hairline.
Hope that helps ^^

Sag mal.... wie nÀhst du die Extention dann an die Perücke? Ich wollte das auch einmal bei einer von meinen machen, stand aber vor dem Problem das die, außer oben am Scheitel, nur Tressen hat und kein Netz mehr. :/

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

chibinis-chan In reply to Federkiel [2008-05-21 02:26:40 +0000 UTC]
