Will it? Will it stop you?
There are going to be more talented artists out there. That's life. But is that going to stop you?
There are many incredible artists here on dA. Does that mean you can't become one yourself?
Some of us come by talent easily. Some of us have to work a little harder to get it than others.
So?
One thing I've learned while being here on dA is that just because an artist is better than me doesn't mean I suck at what I do. It really doesn't. It just means they're more talented in that area.
Is that going to stop me from doing what I LOVE to do?
I love love love to draw.
I don't do it for the views. I don't do it for the favs. I don't do it to keep watchers.
I do it because I LOVE to do it.
Does that mean I should stop just because there a ton more artists that are better than me at drawing?
Heck, no!
Why should that stop me? That should ENCOURAGE me to get better! It seems as if the term "role models" hasn't been used all that recently these days.
So, yeah. Same with all of you out there that write, draw, edit, etc-- are you going to stop doing what you LOVE to do just because someone happens to be better at it?
I hope not!
As one of my favorite characters in the D.Gray-Man manga lives by: "Keep walking. Never stop."
So don't give up, yeah?

Yeah I draw and write and I'm not better than most people but I still do it.
Writing however I'm thinking of just dropping it.

Why drop writing
I love writing x3 I really sucked at it at first (in fact, I couldn't write till 1st grade...) and I shudder when I look back at some of my stuff.. but I've improved over time, and it's definately worth it

I used to get bruises a lot when I was little. I never remembered where I got them though
But rifle bruises sound like they hurt D:

Look up 'colorguard rifle fails' on youtube and you'll see why.
If one thing screws up about your throw or spin, you can break/sprain anything in your body.

This is a timely stamp, not to mention a well made one. 
So, if we do our own thing, like Picasso, Monet and that crowd did (they had their critics too!) and we're doing it for our own personal expression/enjoyment...and others don't like it? Tough. (providing that the said art is 100% yours and is within DA policy guidelines).
I also agree with the other commenters. There's always someone else better than we are...and someone worse than we are that may/may not catch up. Variety is the spice of life they say.

Art can be very inspiring from a conceptual point of view, offering solutions and examples of treating 2D space... there are no role models only personal style. The more talented artists the better, personality is and remains your own; art is an expression not a competition.

well, it's basically an act of communication resulting in personal language so yes, you need a listener...
aside of that you probably need a space required for focus (getting rid of little distracting shams) and of course a bit of inspiration.

And don't forget that even if there are many artists that are way better than you, there are also a ton of artists that a much worse that you. When I think about it it somehow comforts me :-D
