Kinda glad they didn't go with that. There was already a plethora of saucer ships out there with similar designs, would have made trek less original and more copy copycat like

Interesting, i have never heard of this before.
It'd be fascinating to see how Star Trek ships would have been evolved if this had been the original Enterprise.
