Description
All those people who have said they wish they can jump into my scenes and start exploring around, well this is probably as close as your'e going to getThis was the S.O.B that has given me so much trouble over the past few weeks. But the idea was so good that I was determined to get it done, even if it meant waking up at 5:00am a few days in a row so I could make sure the render was still going before going back to sleep (it took a few days to render
I have to admit I got the idea, and a lot of help from so I owe a huge thanks to him since I was clueless on this stuff as little as a few weeks ago...I guess I can learn fast if I'm passionate about something
So here's the first of what might be a whole series - so I decided to do a very "generic" scene for starters - the classic North American Pine forest, possibly the first thing that comes to mind when many think of landscape art. If this turns out to be successful, I might even take you guys into space one day
Mostly made in Vue 7 with some Phostohop postwork, and the Flash output was done in PanoQTVR. Some day I'll make a tutorial.
Edit: Biiig thanks to Sniper115A3 and Gashu-Monsata for the Daily Deviation

Vue it - Approaching Pandora
Vue It - Holiday House

Your'e a lot closer to it than I am - Pine forests exist a lot in America - I for one have never seen any here that weren't man-made pine plantations

This is my first time viewing one of these, and I feel like this may be the future of art. It's not just a picture in a frame or an image. It's feeling and seeing every single detail in what seems to be a limitless space.

I would sure love to be a contributor to a futuristic art movement like that I'm actually not the first to do this, but still one of the earliest in the grand sense of it all
Imagine when technology like this can be implemented into actual spherical rooms you can stand in and experience...I hope I'm still alive when that becomes something easily accessible in art galleries

this is awesome!! how did you make it interactive??
π: 0 β©: 1
Chromattix In reply to Decorum100 [2011-09-30 08:35:11 +0000 UTC]
Mkaing it interactive is a very tricky and precise deal, first I had to build an entire area of landscape in 3D (normally I just work on what's ahead for still images) then I have to render a the entire thing in such a way that it wrap around perfectly in all directions...Then I used another program to turn it from an image into an interactive environment

Which program do you use to turn it interactive??

It's called PanoQTVR - not very well known and I found out about it through someone else. It's most often used for photo's but some like me can do it with 3D art too

This is really fantastic!
Having experimented a bit with Vue, I can't imagine how long this must have taken to render!

I'll save the imagining of the time taken to render by saying it was around 3 days if I remember correctly

Well worth it, though!

It's a bit eerie looking down and not seeing my own feet - made my toes tingle! But it's so beautiful... I keep expecting the leaves to rustle, or something to jump out!
π: 0 β©: 2
Chromattix In reply to 0Hamster0 [2011-09-07 01:24:44 +0000 UTC]
That's odd Though feet couldn't work in here anyway, otherwise they'd be back to front if you turn around completely
Maybe something has jumped out, and is watching already

I cannot agree with your point of view. Is the first time I admire a jaw-dropping 360ΒΊ Image... And it has been like the first time that I saw a Rich Corben book, or the first time I bought a tape cassette of Colin James. I know that I am not going to say anything that has not been already said but... AMAZING WORK!

Thanks! so far there's no tutorials, while this has been done with photography for over a decade now, I rarely see it done with 3D art, I and just a couple of others on this site are the only ones I've ever seen do it with 3D art And that's half the problem there - any advice I give would be useless if you've never done 3D art or understand its terminologies
