Description
Yeah, I actually have a ponysona, designed and drawn courtesy of my friend . Awesome artist, awesome friend, and pretty good at picking up on personalities. I mean look at this guy, he's obviously unhinged, or he just found something really really cool. And you just know that under that grin he's plotting a really bad idea. Also no, even he's probably not sure why his forehooves look singed and covered in blood splatter and blasting powder. It's probably best to not ask. Something to note however, is his Cutie Mark. Something that would be incredibly useful is that the paper actually changes, writing what he's thinking of the most at the moment and some priorities. Needless to say, he's still really unorganized. Flits between ideas at the drop of a hat, though if he gets stuck on one train of thought he tends to over think things.Okay, so I actually managed to dredge up some more information on this guy, and let me say I did not expect most of this. Turns out he's, well, a big question mark. I found mention of a pegasus matching his description and actions in a few places, I'll leave links to the books in the titles. Legends of Pre-War Equestria, Recent Apple Family Folktales, Lost Griffin Bedtime Stories, and even the recently translated Mild Western Legends. At least, I think it's him. If it is though, we might have some problems chummers. If I've read these right, he's usually mentioned as some sort of "thief of futures." In the Mild Western Legends he's referred to as "The Fatethief." Legends talk about him appearing from no where, playing music on shimmering strings of air. The Legends of Pre-War Equestria and Mild Western Legends seem to peg him as appearing to parties of one, two, or three. Usually one or two witnesses will survive to tell of him cutting down at least one member of the group from a distance away, striking near them with more shimmering invisible strands and yet the victim falls dead on the spot. The Lost Griffin Bedtime Stories (careful reading that one, morbid as anything) claims that he takes the shape of his victim, appearing later to trick the victim's allies into believing it was all a misunderstanding. This would put him in line with a changeling, but there's no mention of him being anything but a pony. Either way, considering the dates of these books leads me to two thoughts: He's either unaging somehow, or there's been a lot of ponies with similar abilities through the years. My... contacts with the Equestrian and Cervidan historical societies haven't turned up much on the term Fatethief, though I did locate some information in the Concord Great Library. It's... bizarre, as there's little consistent mention of WHAT a Fatethief actually is or does. From my research though, and some conversations with creatures who prefer to remain anonymous, I've discovered the following.
He might as well be functionally immortal, to some degree. Stories tell of him getting wounded in attempts to chase him off, so his actual mortality may be in question. If it bleeds you can kill it may come into effect here. Either way, he's been around for at least one thousand five hundred years, give or take a century.
He seems to have some connection to mortal creatures, consistently appearing before normal sentient creatures. No record of his intentions though, beyond random murder and impersonation.
He appears to have some control over the air... or something else. It's never clear WHAT exactly the "shimmering strands of air" are, but he doesn't appear to have to make contact with them to cause injury. There also isn't reference to the victims suffering clear injury, just a faint "breaking of string" sound and a sparkling pop in the air.
He can change shapes, though hasn't been recorded as appearing as someone that he hasn't killed. Perhaps a relationship there?
One reference I found in the Great Library, from a group of necromancers about thirteen years back, claimed that a pegasus matching his description, both appearance and ability wise, was seen running a bookstore in Saddle Arabia. The author mentioned that she felt a weird vibe from some of the books, and he refused to let them touch them. Claimed it felt like "time had been pulled free," though the librarian claimed that the journal was delivered by a deer buck instead of the author, a pegasus mare.
He... seems to be able to do the impossible. I don't say this lightly, considering all that has happened in Equestria alone in recent years, but some of the things attributed to him are just... strange. Ceasing to exist when out of sight, appearing from behind impossible hiding places, knowing things he clearly should not, being able to warp reality/chance to an extent, and honestly seems to make his own rules for the most part. I don't know the extent of his abilities, or if he even has a limitation, but he doesn't seem to be... divine in nature. Maybe a particularly powerful mortal, or has made a pact with... something?
He currently lives at the Colorado's Peak radio tower alongside the owner. He's sometimes heard on the station, CBR104.5, though usually it seems he stays off the air. Might be hiding from someone?
That's all I've managed to find thus far, and I'll be honest I get the feeling I'll have to talk to him if I want more. I don't know quite what's going on, but I intend to find out. Wish me luck everypony.

Edit: Okay, so the book links kinda broke. I have no clue why, but you'll be fine. Everypony's got those books already, right? And hey, your libraries have GOT to have a copy or two.
Anyway, thanks again ! Seriously, this is an awesome gift. Oh yeah, if you're wanting a download for some reason, you're gonna have to grab it over there. Why yes, I am shamelessly directing you toward my friend, why do you ask?
