The way they achieved that is by using magic, the Lumines thrive on magic and magical energies as it runs their civilization, Using powerful teleportation magic for FTL travel, Arcane cannons to regularly destroy planets and entire fleet of ships, Faster than light Communications, Manipulation of the laws of physics for their benefit, etc... and the way they acquire that is to target star systems and planets and harvest any source of magic on them, from people, magical items and objects, artifacts, locations, and sometimes entire planets are harvested to fuel their need for magic.

Because of that, The Lumines stood unopposed in conquering their entire galaxy. They value collectivism, loyalty, nobility, and obedience. A contrast to their enemies from another Galaxy, the Scibraxians, another Type-3 civilization. The Scibraxians are beings who has abandoned their physical bodies and just exist as data in their own virtual world, In order to interact with the physical world they inhabit machines which they custom made to their own personal tastes, Some bodies are as small as mice, while others can be bigger than moons or even planets. The Scibrxians value individuality and expression, their cities and society as a whole look like a colorful chaotic mess of light, shapes, and color, They have no laws and are in a constant state of anarchy in its civilians, but their society still runs and is only held together by their shared ideals and beliefs. Their technology allows them to assimilate and adapt to any kind of technology they encounter and because of this they are very technologically advanced and powerful enough to go toe to toe with the advanced magic the Lumines use, the reason they cant conquer the Lumines is because they cant assimilate and adapt to magic.

Back to Riel. Riel is the child of the Emperor and Empress of the Lumines. From birth, she is already given high expectations and responsibilities from her parents, Forced to study many things and to follow proper strict rules and etiquette, while being harshly punished for mistakes. She slowly grew tired of it and desires freedom to live like a normal person and not from royalty. So one day, she snuck out, and lives in hiding. In constant run from her parents and the authorities that are looking for her. During her life in the outside, she resented magic since she associates magic with her strict childhood. Knowing that the Lumines are at War with the Scibraxians, she defected and told them how Lumine magic works, in turn they gave her technology and a new life, the Scibraxians doesn't demand her loyalty despite her being a child of the Lumine leaders and just lets her go. Riel then traveled away to different galaxies, doing things that she has never been able to do, such as adventuring, sleeping with lots of people, experiencing wild and new things, then as shes doing all that and enjoying herself, she has heard of the Null system in the void between galaxies, a place of opportunities and new beginnings. So she heads there in the hopes of more freedom, adventure, and excitement without the people who knows about her before.
