I imagine the king trusts Seto because a guy who talks so convincingly to a king, with the expression and posture that Seto does, it would be hard to deny him...and with the compromise of guards escorting them to the boundaries of Greece, it makes sense.

But still: even in ancient times, the royal cities of Greece would be on an island. At some point, Seto still would have to take a boat/ship--there's simply no way he could arrived there entirely via horseback.
