Description D.K was one of my very first OCs and he's been my go-to thing to draw for years. Over said years, a mythos, world, and story has grown to the point past his original purpose as a Sonic OC and I've embraced this change of pace. He will continue to be drawn in the Sonic style but only when it actually pertains to said franchise, which I hope to accomplish given I actually redid his design and story to better meld into said universe.

For now, however, D.K's made his home in his own world, with his own friends, enemies, and adventures.

Name: D.K; originally his predecessor's name/moniker, he took it to honor his mentor's legacy

Age: 20; officially 6 years old but given the unique circumstances of his 'birth' such a low number isn't something to worry about

Height: 5"9

Weight: 187 lbs; D.K is not overweight as the extra pounds are due to his denser skeletal structure.

Nationality: American

Race: Pseudo with Caucasian features, Indonesian and Australian ancestry (due to Komodo Dragon Pseudos having ancestral ties to Indonesia and even further back to Australia prehistoric, D.K has the same genetics)

Likes: most subgenres of rock and metal, cooking, helping people, charities, seeing people happy, training, making friends, helping people redeem and reconcile, seeing a difference, nature, his team, Medusa, his siblings

Dislikes: classical music, spicy foods, rude, inconsiderate, and uncaring people, paperwork, unnecessary meetings, political big shots getting in the way of helping, inhumane experimentation

Interesting/odd talent: can juggle really well for some reason…

Powers, Abilities, Skills:

Mana; the life energy of the entire Universe, D.K is capable of using this energy in a variety of ways but mostly uses it to enhance his already impressive physical capabilities. He is able to use Mana to form long range projectiles of varying degrees of strength, from completely non-lethal to full blown attacks comparable to missile strikes. His Mana is also capable of incredible regeneration, allowing him to regrow entire limbs however all of these abilities have limits.

Knowledgeable in firearms, explosives, and vehicles; D.K was trained by top-of-the-class military and government operatives who taught him all there was to know about conventional combat should his powers be negated or Mana reserves low.
Skilled in martial arts and other forms of hand to hand combat; trained by masters of their respective skills, D.K adapted various martial arts into his own fighting, blending them to form a style perfect for himself. He is most skilled in Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Brazilian Boxing, Boxing, and Wrestling.

Sharp senses; due to being a perfect fusion of man and animal, D.K possesses all of the natural instinct and enhanced senses of his respective animal, the Komodo Dragon. He's able to taste the air with his forked tongue, picking up even the smallest changes, his vision allows him to view in low light, and his sense of touch and hearing let him feel changes in the air. His natural instinct acts as a sixth sense, giving him incredible reaction speed and reflexes so he can dodge incoming attacks.

Sharpened claws, teeth, and tail; both hands and feet are equipped with razor sharp claws that can sink into concrete like a hot knife through butter and can even gouge out metal when enhanced with Mana. His teeth can crunch through most materials due to their durability and his incredible jaw strength. His tail, while not ambidextrous, is capable of picking up and manipulating objects to a degree and D.K has fine control over it. It is mostly used in combat as a whip or batting weapon, knocking opponents to the ground or cracking across heads.

Armored skin; even without using Mana to protect himself, D.K is perfectly fine thanks to the osteoderms under his skin. These small pieces of bone under his scales and more human-like flesh act as biological chainmail and are strong enough to stop small arms fire, shrapnel, and intense pressure. Even if he's naturally durable

Reinforced skeleton and immune system; D.K's skeleton is much like a normal human's, however, the key difference lies in their internal structure. His bones are reinforced from the inside and while this does add more to his natural weight, it also increases his durability even without the usage of Mana.
His bones are able to withstand immense weight and pressure, and combined with his impressive strength, allow him to lift 28 tons and his limits extend the more he trains and pushes himself.
His immune system is so powerful, he is essentially resistant to almost all forms of disease, sickness, and ailments, with the only time he'd ever be sick be during shedding.

Enhanced strength, speed, and endurance; D.K is able to hold up 28 tons or more with his powers and this can depend on how much he pushes himself. In the most desperate situations, he's able to hold back 50 tons. His speed can cap off at 150 kmh with Mana and his endurance lets him keep running for well over an hour before he begins to feel exhaustion.

Limited levitation; by projecting Mana outward, D.K can levitate. It is not flying as he needs to push off of something or gain some traction in order to go anywhere and is more in line with gliding. Even so, he can only go so far and for so long, with his capped limit of height being one hundred meters and distance being two hundred.

Weaknesses:

Mana limit; while D.K is capable of impressive feats and abilities, these all can be exhausted once he hits his limits. His internal Mana does exceed a certain amount and he would need to rest in order to regain it though in desperate situations, he can siphon Mana from the environment, including people, but he only does this when absolutely necessary as he despises draining the literal life out of people. While he is powerful, he isn't at the level his mentor was and he always works to one day reach and then exceed his predecessor's limits. Like a muscle, the more he works with Mana and the more he pushes it, the longer he can use it in greater quantity the next time.

Standard physical limits; now matter how strong, fast, or durable, D.K has bodily limits just like everyone else. There's only so much he can lift, run, and regenerate from.

Naive; D.K believes people can change and he's willing to see the best in people but this can bite him when he puts too much trust in those who may be willing to stab him in the back. It's usually his friends who point out the possible danger and convince him to be wary.

Deep seeded self doubt; he doubts his worthiness as a successor, a hero, and a leader. Even with the reformations of his allies and the world, he still holds his own stress on how he works.

Borderline obsessive protection of family and friendships; with the loss of his mentor, D.K has developed an unseen possessiveness to those he deeply cares for. While it doesn't cause any issues with anyone, it does make D.K extremely defensive of them and anyone hurt or even killed makes him fly into a blind rage that makes him dead set on destroying the threat and securing his friends' safety.

Personality: D.K is best described as confident, easy going, kind, and generous. He has a kind hearted nature and is more than willing to put himself in harm's way to protect anyone who needs it, even if they don't want help. He is heroic to an incredible degree and possesses an iron-like will that very few things can break down.

With incredible determination, a great sense of justice, and a greater world view that lets him see those many would miss. Due to his origins and those of his predecessor, he believes in redemption and desires to see the good in everyone. He is considered by many to be a natural born leader even though he doubts himself in that area. D.K is also a pretty patient person and is willing to forgive people, to a certain extent of course. He holds friends and family to a high degree and any threat to either is met with extreme seriousness and steel focus.

Despite his good nature, D.K can be naive due to his beliefs in redemption. He is also very self conscious and stress ridden due to the legacy left behind for him and many of the responsibilities on his shoulders weigh on him. His heroic nature also drives him to try and save as many people as he can, and failure to save people deeply plagues his mind.

He is known to overwork himself to exhaustion because of how much he takes on. He doubts his ability to lead his team quite a lot but is slowly realizing he's better than he gives himself credit for. While he is intelligent and a capable strategist, he isn't a genius and usually leaves the heavy thinking to those who know what they're doing.

Despite his teachings, he can lose himself in his emotions, especially when it comes to loss of life or people close to him being hurt or worse. This stems from the fact he was very close to his mentor and when he passed, this created a deep rooted desire to protect the people closest to him to an almost obsessive degree and anything that threatens said relationships is met with extreme anger and borderline predator-like hostility.

Bio

In this fascinating world that's been built over time, humanity lived peacefully alongside a race of half-human- creatures coined the Pseudo.

The Pseudo were overall human in basic build and possessed human-like faces, features, and bodies but the most major difference that separates them from humans was their animal based features and abilities. Many of the Pseudo looked much like many mythological creatures like mermaids, minotaurs, satyrs, etc. but the human element seemed to be far more balanced with the animal side.

This version of Earth held a society where humans lived side-by-side with the Pseudo and despite outward appearances, they were for the most part, treated fairly and it was strange for major settlements to discriminate against them. While the planet was advanced to a certain degree, it was not overly so and from an outward appearance looked very much like our modern Earth.

A major distinction between this Earth and our own was the presence of advanced science, technology, and even supernatural and magical elements. This, combined with one of its most notable aspects of possessing individuals who looked like superheroes, made this universe seem like the pages of a real-life comic book sprung to life.

All of this was made even more relevant in the world's recent history, specifically starting in 2014.

Earth's most notable hero was Wave, who was a sparrow Pseudo that possessed incredible agility and flight speed. He was powerful in his own right and made countless foes and allies alike but he would meet his match when one of his most notorious enemies, Dr. Hatewreck, created a weapon of untold destruction.

Combining his advanced science and one of the key magic elements present in this universe called Mana, he created a being made to destroy the scientist's greatest enemies and help pave the way to his dreams of a world under his rule; the original D.K was born.

Using the embryo of a Komodo Dragon Pseudo, manipulating its genetics to enhance whatever he wanted and then super-charging the yet-to-be conscious being with Mana energy, Dr. Hatewreck created a monster genetically programmed to follow his command. Accelerating its growth to shrink several years to only a month, the embryo grew to an adult and from its chamber it emerged, ready to serve its master and 'father'. Given the codename Destiny Killer, or D.K for short, the enhanced Komodo Pseudo was unleashed upon the world.

Leveling cities with his awesome power, D.K brought chaos down upon innocent lives, destroying cities around the globe. Defeating the world's heroes left and right, even going as far as to beat Wave's rival and equal, proved that the Komodo was a force to be reckoned with and world leaders considered surrendering to Dr. Hatewreck.

Through two battles, Wave would challenge D.K, with the first fight ending in a draw and the second being a loss for Wave, with him almost being slain by the reptilian-humonoid's hand and only survived thanks to a coordinated rescue by his friends. With victory basically being assured, the doctor proclaimed the beginning of his global control.

Overtime, however, D.K would soon grow disobedient to Dr. Heartwreck and would challenge the doctor's leadership. It eventually boiled to the point that D.K would send the doctor into a deep coma after discovering the man planned to terminate him with a built-in kill switch and with his only threat gone, the reptile Pseudo would do as he pleased with no one to control him. He would take what he wanted and destroy whatever without abandon.

However, D.K's time would reach its end when Wave returned with his allies to back him up, all of them better prepared and stronger than ever. Wave himself was now more powerful thanks to him further pushing the boundaries of his skill over Mana.

The third and final confrontation would become brutal as Wave unlocked a new form of power, shifting into speeds so fast that even the Komodo Pseudo's enhanced eyesight and mental processing couldn't keep up. Trading blows that lasted for hours, all the way to sunset, they leveled the environment around them until nothing but rubble and craters were left behind and it all came to an end when Wave harnessed a massive fury of Mana energy and when it struck D.K, it purged the negative power out of his system, sending the Komodo into a hibernative state.

D.K would awaken months later, having now developed a personality completely different from his old self. He became an honest, helpful, and positive figure and despite his past and the mistrust the world held against him, he worked for years as a hero with Wave's help to make up for his sins, as he held genuine regret for the lives he took and ruined. Through years of struggle and work, he tried to be better than he was in the past and wanted to make the world better then how it was.

Eventually, Dr. Heartwreck would emerge from his coma and would unveil his ultimate plan of unleashing an army of D.K clones that while less powerful than the original, were made more ferocious because of their massive numbers. This made D.K face his past and truly prove to the world he was working to redeem himself. In the ensuing war to save the planet, he would gain a new and heavy responsibility from Wave after he was crippled in a major fight against Dr. Heartwreck and forced to retire, D.K took the mantle of the world's greatest hero.

In the final battle against Dr. Heartwreck, who turned himself into a cybernetic mutant monstrosity for the last stand, D.K finally forgave himself of his past evils and unlocked a greater depth of his power that gave him the boost he needed to defeat the mad scientist, who ultimately killed himself by overloading on Mana energy in a desperate attempt to keep fighting.

Now standing as victor, the world celebrated and honored D.K for his heroic efforts. Finally the world saw the changed man he was and the wounds of the past finally healed, fading into scars.

Over the next three years, through his own adventures, battles, and journeys, D.K became the world-renowned hero Wave believed he could be and was seen as a beacon of hope for all. Saving the world twice further improved his image and made him an icon for every continent. In his time, the Komodo Pseudo even discovered his original family and learned the name he would've had: Deven Kurvin.

Regaining his sense of identity, Deven stood as a figurehead for heroism and humility but much like Wave, his time would meet its end when cultists revived a dangerous entity that would bring about the apocalypse. This demigod was the antithesis to Mana, the life energy of the universe, and as the strongest and most skilled user of it, Deven sacrificed every drop of his energy to lock it up for the rest of time, and as consequence, his life was slowly bleeding away with only months left to live.

Realizing his time was running out, the Pseudo went on one last adventure, further mending the lives of many along the way and even making new friends. In the last months of his life, Deven was given a gift by the Entity, the plane of reality that housed and maintained Mana throughout existence itself and from what he learned, it was sentient and intelligent beyond reason.

The Entity believed that Deven was worthy of its power and was happy he chose a path of good instead of keeping with the darkness. It then bestowed the Komodo with a gift and a miracle. Taking qualities and aspects of Deven's spirit and mind, The Entity created a brand new being crafted from both himself and its own force of nature. This new being was made mostly in Deven's image and was like him in many aspects but had its own mind and personality. It was ultimately its own person.

When this new form of life finally became conscious, it was confused much like a child but was soon filled in on what had occurred. It was quiet and timid but followed through with what was happening.

When Deven returned home alongside the new being, he went on to care for it and nurture it like it was his son, which it technically was. He showed what the world had to offer, introducing it to his friends and family who welcomed him with open arms. Deven who'd then give him his old name of D.K but he'd assure him that the initials did not stand for the moniker of "Destiny Killer" but now stood for "Destiny's Kindness" as the veteran hero learned that anyone can change their destiny and make it their own to bring about the opportunity for the future to bring kindness.

Although he taught the nature of heroism and the values of being kind, generous, and helpful, Deven did not force the idea of being a hero like him onto D.K as he believed that he should be given the freedom of choice of what he wanted in life.

Together, the two lived in Deven's seaside house on the east coast, with the eldest of the two teaching the other on how to use Mana and physically trained him even though D.K never openly used said power. Even with his time running out and him still working as a hero, the veteran took his time teaching his friend how to responsibly and properly use his strength.

When Deven went to California to help with a sudden influx of villain activity, he brought D.K with him so he could enjoy the trip and experience life on the other side of the country and it was here the unnaturally created Pseudo's future began to take shape.

One day, while D.K explored the city of San Francisco, a Water Buffalo Pseudo villain named Tyrant emerged, possessing a frightening ability; he could put any opponent he makes physical contact with into a coma to feed off their mental anguish. With this power, Tyrant defeated every hero who stood in his way and rampaged through the city.

During the chaos, D.K would spot a child about to be crushed by rubble and without any further thought, he'd rush in and protect the girl by unlocking his Mana powers for the first time. Now knowing what he was capable of and seeing the little girl run to her parents in an emotional embrace, D.K felt a flame burn in his heart. In that moment, he now understood what he needed to do. With Deven's help, D.K continued his control over Mana. With only a minimum amount of strength and skill over the power inside of him, the energy born Pseudo went off on his own despite his predecessor's warnings he wasn't ready.

Even though he was inexperienced, D.K went after Tyrant and openly engaged him in battle. In the ensuing fight D.K was well aware of what his opponent was capable of and kept his distance from his hands, using his superior reflexes and speed to stay out of range. The villain grew aware of what D.K was doing and outsmarted him by putting civilians in danger, forcing the Komodo Pseudo to save them but this put him the perfect place for Tyrant to touch him.

Falling into the coma, D.K was plagued by nightmares of his greatest worries, anxieties, and fears. Even with so much negativity filling his mind, the young hero dug deep into his mind and forced out the darkness, focusing on his mentor's voice of encouragement during their time together. Harnessing Mana in his mindscape, D.K was able to fight against Tyrant's power and wake up.

Released from his forced sleep, D.K woke up to find he was rescued by some of the local heroes and placed in one of their vehicles. With the help of a Cuttlefish Pseudo named Hirosumi, he learned Tyrant was on the Golden Gate Bridge and with a new plan in mind, he went off to face the villain again but when he was heading there, he encountered Deven who angrily reprimanded him for his carelessness but in the end, he praised D.K for his heart and spirit being in the right place.

Together, the veteran and rookie hero headed for the famous landmark and worked with local authorities and heroes to save people caught in the destruction. Once people were clear, Deven and D.K faced off against Tyrant and with their impeccable teamwork, they managed to tire out the villain, making him lose his cool at constantly missing his attacks and with the discovery D.K broke out of his control, he only gained tunnel vision. With help from Hirosumi, they used metal pulled from wrecked cars and managed to cover Tyrant's hands. Using the Cuttlefish Pseudo's elastic limbs like a slingshot, the duo landed a final attack that knocked the supervillain down for good.

With Tyrant in custody, the two were hailed for their efforts. With the job done, they returned home and settled down, sitting by the cliffs and watching the sunrise over the horizon.

While watching the sight, the two talked and D.K explained his experience of saving the little girl and how good it felt seeing her hug her parents, the thanks from them for saving their child filling his heart with a happiness he couldn't describe. He was assured by his elder that this was his choice; he wanted to help people and he was more than willing to follow in Deven's footsteps. Happy to see such determination in his eyes, Deven admitted he was glad to hear that and said he was proud of D.K and looked forward to seeing what he'd do for the future.

As the veteran's body started to glow, startling D.K, Kurvin smiled fondly as he pulled his successor into a hug. He told him that he didn't need to be the next "him" and that he should be his own hero, with his own life. Deven then explained that hidden in the floorboards of his bedroom, there was a box that had important information pertaining to a project he'd been working on for years but only in recent months did he further polish it with the help of the Global Human-Pseudo Confrontation Agency, the government sanctioned organization that employed heroes around the world and was the organization he worked with. He explained to D.K that the files would help him and was a plan to create something that would help the world and if he brings the information to the GHPCA, they would help him with everything.

Now nothing but a cloud of gold and green lights, Deven expressed how proud he was of D.K and that he knew he'd do amazing. The villain-turned-hero gave his final goodbyes and asked his protege to give his well wishes to his family and friends. With his final words being he'll always be there for him, the cloud of sparklers drifted with the coming breeze, fading away.

The following days after, the entire world mourned the loss of their greatest hero. The memorial was gigantic and all of Deven's closest friends and family gathered to remember and celebrate the life he lived. Wave, his parents, even former enemies reformed gave words of their experience knowing Kurvin and how much he changed their lives and the lives of everyone in the world.

Across the world, people of all walks of life mourned, celebrated, and prayed for the existence of their hero; governments and their military honored his memory as if he were one of their ranks. Social media blew up with well wishes and heartfelt messages. Children and teens painted murals, drew pictures, and wrote essays of their hero. In New York's Central Park, a statue was unveiled while in Washington, D.C, the President gave a speech on Deven's exploits and expressed his deepest thanks for his efforts not just for the U.S but for the world.

The memory of Deven Kurvin, originally a menacing villain that gripped the world in fear and terror, now became a icon of heroism, hope, and most importantly, redemption.

Despite the reassurance Deven left him before his passing, D.K still felt the weight of his legacy on his shoulders and while people told him he'd do great becoming a hero, he could see in their eyes the expectations of him being amazing. And if he had to be honest? He was willing to meet those expectations with all he had.

Following his instructions, the energy born Pseudo found the box and opened it. It was full of photos, manila folders filled to the brim of military documents, and even blueprints for some sort of building. Curious, D.K spent the rest of the night sifting and reading through all of it.

All of this information he left behind for D.K to find and bring to the GHPCA was a proposition and a plan to bring together people who all shared two things: they had the spirit to be heroes and they changed their futures from a past of darkness.

The team was to be composed of people, specifically Pseudos, who knew the differences between black and white but saw all the shades of grey, who had the talents and skills to be incredible heroes, and who had the will to help people no matter what, even if the rest of the world turned against them.

Their name, as a team, would symbolize exactly who they were; people who reached out and grabbed their destinies in their own hands and changed their futures to make everything better, especially their lives.

They would be Destiny Reach.

Over the next two years, with the backing of the GHPCA, D.K sharpened his body and mind to further levels as he was trained by his former mentors' hero friends and the best athletic trainers around. He was then trained by martial arts masters from around the globe, where D.K gained a knowledge of over a dozen styles and several techniques in mental and spiritual strengthening. He was further taught how to operate military grade vehicles such as HUMVEEs and helicopters, how to fire, clean, and take apart firearms and explosives and basic first aid.

Due to lacking an education beyond high school level, since Deven only taught that far, he was taught college level courses, excelling in physics, mathematics, and science. He was also given minor courses on psychology and language arts, now having the necessary skills to pick up on what people may be thinking and fluent in seven languages.

Once his work was done, D.K was given the approval of the high chair members of the GHPCA and made an official agent of the organization and while he was busy with training and schooling, the organization managed to construct the building he had seen blueprints for; a base of operations capable of housing over two hundred individuals, fully stocked with a common area, bedrooms, a mechanics shop, laboratory, hanger bay, and more.

With a place to call home away from home, the Mana user went off on his first mission: locate new members for Team Destiny.

With the help of the notes and files Deven left behind, the rookie hero went through the list and began the first steps to making his predecessor's idea into a reality…

D.K is of my own creation
