Zarg was a hunter in the stone age. They had basic tools and clothing but not much else. Although the years were starting to show on his face, he was still young enough to hunt. He and the other hunters in his village were successful enough to keep the people in his village alive. One day he saw a unicorn and decided to hunt it.

Zarg threw a spear at the unicorn. The unicorn noticed the spear and easily outran it. The spear got stuck in a nearby tree. As Zarg went over to the tree to pull out the spear, he noticed the unicorn was watching him. Foolishly he decided to chase the unicorn all by himself. No one else was anywhere near him.

The unicorn was much faster. Every so often she would pause to give Zarg a chance to catch up and then lead him further away from his village. Zarg had no idea what the unicorn was doing and pursued her thinking he would be able to single handedly provide a meal for his entire village.

The unicorn led Zarg to a deserted garden. The crops were ripe but no one was there. Zarg did not know much about agriculture but he knew enough about plants to know a meal when he saw one. Deciding the unicorn would be too much work, he helped himself to the grain and vegetables. As soon as he took his first bite, he started to change.

His facial hair disappeared, but this did not concern him. Zarg just kept on eating. He became smaller and thinner. The fat he had left rearranged itself giving him a more feminine shape. His breasts grew larger and his clothing changed into something more suitable for his new figure. This still did not concern him very much.

Then his genitals changed. Zarg screamed. The scream he, or she, made sounded more or less like the females in his village. She began to panic. As she did, the unicorn approached her. She had a magical calming effect on her. Afterwards Zarg did not seem to mind the changes that had happened to her.

Being calmer, Zarg realized she had to go back to her village and tell them where the food was. They would no longer recognize her but she knew the other villagers well enough to know they would not attack a complete stranger. She took some food back with her. After giving them the food, she motioned for them to follow her. Some of them did.

They were grateful for the fresh supply of grain and vegetables. It was only enough to last them for about a year but that gave them time to learn the secrets of agriculture. They seemed to have a magical knowledge about how to do it. They stored up plenty of seeds. In the spring they would plant them and wait for the harvest.

In the distance, the unicorn watched them. She knew she and the other sentient animals would no longer be hunted. The villagers would be content as long as they had more than enough food to eat. Sometimes she had to do something drastic to get their attention and that was exactly what she did.
