The entire school was going on a field trip. In order to minimize costs, they were taking only two buses. The girls would be on one bus and the boys would be on the other. It was a simple plan, but simple plans usually do not take into consideration the near certainty of unexpected problems.

Don forgot to get his parents to sign his permission slip so he had to call his mom and get her to come over and sign it personally. As soon as she arrived, he ran over to the car and returned with the signed permission slip. By that time, the other students had already boarded the two buses.

One of the female students he knew was looking out the window of the first bus so that was the bus he boarded. Having no idea the buses were divided by gender, he sat down at an empty seat in front of the student he knew. It was an aisle seat but under the circumstances he was glad to get a seat at all.

As the bus left the school, Don looked around and realized his mistake. He did not think it was a big deal. They were headed to the same destination. However, along the way they would stop at a magical village with strict policies on gender. Everything had to be flawless. If it was not flawless, magical defenses were in place to make it flawless.

Don sang quietly to himself when he noticed his voice was getting higher. His voice, which had only changed recently, was changing in reverse. His hair grew long and styled itself into a ponytail. Body hair disappeared. All his masculine features disappeared and were replaced with feminine ones. His clothes changed to match his new body. It was still the school uniform, but it had changed from the boys school uniform to the girls school uniform.

Don felt his body features change leaving him, or her, complete female. She would have panicked or at least asked what was going on but some magical force kept her in place. None of the other girls on the bus even noticed the change. Dawn thought her name was Don but that was more of a boy's name. Dawn was the name she would use. She remembered it as the name given to her at birth.

Since Dawn arrived late, a female teacher handed her a book containing information about the magical village they would be visiting. Dawn was fascinated by it. She was so busy reading that she did not notice all the other students leaving the bus. She was late again!
