Game is called Ark: Survival Evolved
On the DLC Genesis Part 1 there are ocean-based trials the player must go through to progress and normally it would be difficult, especially combat...If you're not using mods.

This mod makes combat in the ocean easy thanks to it adding a "underwater assault rifle" based on a real gun.

-despite it saying no longer supported it works just fine for me.
-Just a heads up though: most in not all of the mod's entities are in German.

The gun is based on the Russia APS.

In game details about gun:
-Range is a bit limited even underwater but it's repeatable firing makes it batter when going up against groups and better that the manually reloading after each shot harpoon gun.
-Full auto feature made vision jump all over the place.
-Optional scope can be added.

This makes things reminiscent of Into the Deep | Call of Duty Wiki | Fandom for some including myself...Though I can kill a shark easier with the gun on Ark than on Call of Duty.
