Location: Bodie State Historic Park, California
"Bodie State Historic Park is a genuine California gold-mining ghost town. Visitors can walk down the deserted streets of a town that once had a population of 10,000 people. The town was founded by Waterman S. Body (William Bodey), who had discovered small amounts of gold in hills north of Mono Lake. In 1877, the Standard Company struck pay dirt and a gold rush transformed Bodie from a town of 20 people to a boomtown. "

Read some of the comments. I agree with the left hand crop but disagree with with the coments on the darkness. I love the dark tone and you have achieved the full black and white range within the shot. I usually hate power pole but you have incorporated these two really well.

Very beautiful, I really love the toning you picked here, very suiting. The thing however i love the most about this photograph is the composition of the man in the photograph as well as his expression. A truly wonderful photograph.

You've managed to capture the "ghost-town" feeling amazingly, I've almost never seen this (imagination is the exception). The colurs give a boost to the feeling of having been forgotten by time. The man with his head turned is not quite "welcoming you" into this town. He is the only element in disconcordance with the raggedy old look of the buildings.
What I most enjoy about this photo is the both careless and planned look of the photo. The proportions are amazing, but the horizontal plan looks a little crooked. That's the charm of it.
COngratulations, you've once again prooved you are an amazing photographer.

Thanks for the bio on the pic. It helps to bring a lot of historic meaning to the piece. To think that that use to be a busy thriving town and now it is this, well, it makes a person stop and think. Though some of the most used and empty places on the planet are the most beautiful things to look at. Great shot.

Excellent capture! Certainly not nearly enough attention from others on this one. Everyone should see this.
As for improvements, I can't say much here. I get the feeling like there's a bit too much photo on the left though, like that the rest of the photo is overpowering the subject, making it harder to focus on him. Personally, I think I would crop it maybe half an inch or more off the left.
Just an idea though.
