I had the idea for this comic the night before an O-chem exam. Guess that goes to show you where my priorities lie.So I've noticed that the show's been kind of nice about giving Rainbow Dash things over time -- way back in Season 2, ~RizCifra drew this up after we realized how not alone Dash was anymore with Tank. Then "Sleepless in Ponyville" aired, and take that, Faust -- Dash's gonna try and be a responsible big sister. That said, we STILL haven't seen any mention of pegasus families for either Rainbow, Fluttershy, or Scootaloo (and I'm pretending the middle satisfies herself with bears or something for the sake of a joke), and the episode slots to explore those things are running out.
I can't say I WANT the show to go into their histories, though. Making up stuff like this is, in an attempt to get me labeled something derogatory, fun. I personally believe Rainbow Dash comes from a very happy family who she can count on when times get tough, but I just had to draw this first.

This actually made me incredible sad and tear up a bit. I hope the pegasus' have families and that part of the character's history is explained as the seasons go on.

With Rainbow Dash being a tomboy, I kind of imagined her being largely influenced by a few big brothers. I also thought of her as being the youngest among her siblings, as Faust has already stated that RD would make a particularly poor big sister. I do believe Faust was right, initially, but I like Rainbow Dash's commitment to Scootaloo as a positive step in the right direction.

I could definitely see RD having some big brothers, too. However, you already have Shining Armor and Big Mac for those roles with Twi and AJ already. My headcanon's that Firefly's actually RD's older sister, but good freakin' luck trying to make that work in the show now that Hasbro let the copyright slip, haha!

Fluttershy was raised by bears. I'm ok with this.
I really like your storytelling in this. I actually got it in the feels for RD at the end.
I do have one teensy crit though- since it's a copy-paste job in a lot of the frames, fram 5 (the group shot) really bugs me. RD's leg which was raised in all the others has been lowered, but the bent joint is still there. Perhaps this is intentional, but to me it looks like a creepy fatty bulge... But that is a very small thing in an otherwise great comic :3

I noticed that issue in the 5th panel as I was drawing this, yeah. Then I thought this image would get shrunken down for the final comic, and I'm like, "Man, no one's gonna point that out at all. I've got bigger things to do."

I can't obey orders like "don't call me something derogatory." It is psychologically impossible. I don't know how anybody manages it, really. And then I always feel bad about posting a comment for no purpose other than a really obvious joke, so I try to think of something else to say.

My personal headcanon is that Fluttershy is estranged from her mother (her father was eaten by a dragon). She comes from a long line of top flyers, and her mother constantly pushed and shoved her toward a career in flying, hence her reluctant acceptance into Flight Camp. Fluttershy can keep up with Rainbow Dash even without any sort of training (of course, since RD's cutie mark is speed, she could easily outpace Fluttershy if she wanted to) That's inborn talent.

Ouch, that's quite a violent end for Flutterdad. You and I have a brainwave there, though--I like to believe Fluttershy's parents ARE involved with dragon affairs, especially when it comes to keeping them out of Equestria as a special division of the royal guard.

Nopony except Fluttershy seems to be afraid of dragons, despite the fact that a dragon could very well eat a pony in one bite. So, the reason Fluttershy is so afraid of dragons is because her father was eaten by one.
