She limped across the room, feeling nothing but the pain that shot up her leg, and the fear that welled up from deep inside her. She hoped her cubs would be safe; they would be, wouldn't they?
She shook her head. It was dangerous to think of them, did she want it to find them? It can't read minds, can it? She asked herself. It was just a story, something a queen told her cubs, there was no way it could be true.
She stopped. Dead in her tracks. It had found her.
She scrabbled over the rocks. It was after her. She knew it.
