Description
He raced, passed trees, bushes, flowers... He didn't see them, he scented. The Scent was stronger than the Sight. He winced, looking at his 'hands'. His fingers were drawing into his hand, his fur was growing. He had to stop, somewhere enclosed. A dark, dank scent hit the roof of his mouth. A cave! Perfect!Emerging, he padded over to a puddle. As if displeased with what he saw, he started to wash. His fur was covered in shreds of clothing, where he'd clawed his way out.
Dang, he thought. That was my favorite shirt! He growled to himself and swiped at a daisy. He looked up at the sun.
Double Dang, he thought. I'm late! He raced through the tough grass and through a patch of strong-smelling gorse, hissing as it took its price. Clumps of grey fur hung from the stiff barbs, then they were gone. He murmured a thanks to it. Then raced on, over rocky outcrops that stuck out of the headland like stone molehills. He spat as they grazed his pads, hoping a badger wouldn't find his trail. It shouldn't. As he'd made the travel-safe offering and prayer. Either side of his mussel stung at the thought, it was still tender from where the whiskers had been pulled.
He'd reached the hollow. It was surrounded by yew; no-one would ever look there! Skittering down the steep side of the slope, he drew the air to the roof of his mouth. Her scent was stale.
Didn't even wait, he complained to himself. He got up to leave, padding to the gentler slope, when he caught a whiff. He sniffed to be sure, padding further forward. A weight dropped onto his back, instinctively he rolled over. Obviously it was expected. The cat leapt off of then on top of him as he rolled and held him down. Her eyes sparkled with laughter.
"Make it hard, why don't you?" She purred, moving to sit beside him. "I didn't hurt you, did I?"
He sat up, growling good-naturedly.
"You in a bad mood?" She asked, grooming the scraps of dead leaf out of his fur.
"Nope." He let her touch noses and twined his tail with hers. He couldn't remember why he'd been agitated in his human form, so he shrugged it off and chatted.

I think I've re-read this four or five times now. I still love it... Perhaps there's a slight bias opinion there but still.
The way the transformation starts off is quite well done and the reference back to it around mid-way reminds the reader that the creature they're currently following was once something more human.
... Ah wan this one to keep going... ^o^" X3
