Ok, so this character has a shitload of backstory and origin and,,
y'know, I'm just just gonna spew it out right here.

Ruby is my second character I've EVER made, originating from a blue dog I drew in a Christmas card around the year 2009. Her name was actually Blueberry (I know, oml). Sometime around 2010 I literally just dropped the character for my first one which I actually started writing a backstory for,, and eventually dropped both in 2011. In 2013, I found an old drawing of the two and got back into drawing Blueberry, whose name I then changed to thunder, and for some reason totally flipped the gender. Aaaand, being the totally original bean I am, added a red bowtie, then added the same red bowtie to the other character.
I stuck with those until 2014, when I actually wanted to change things up. Instead of a generic blue dog, I changed her into a female wolf-fox mix with a fur pattern of bright blue, dark blue and dark grey, which I was actually really happy with.
In 2016 UniWolfi helped me make a new design (which was wack, like, honestly). Whiiiich I later changed up a lil, but kept a few things and gave her credit for that (I think, I'm so sorry if I didn't lmao), and I still enjoy that one too. Long story short, I finalized the design in 2017-2018 and kept it that way until now, only changing some small things that you may notice if you've seen my older DA account.
