Description Elon MuskJeff BezosBernard ArnaultBill GatesMark ZuckerbergLarry PageSergey BrinSteve BallmerLarry EllisonWarren Buffett  are the 10 richest people on the planet according to The Bloomberg Billionaires Index  as of September 2021.

They obviously have a huge impact of society and one can argue that they deserve to be able to live well beyond anyone else's means. However, as reported by Oxfam  in their latest report 'The Inequality Virus', "The increase in the 10 richest billionaires’ wealth since the crisis began is more than enough to prevent anyone on Earth from falling into poverty because of the virus, and to pay for a COVID-19 vaccine for everyone."

Such level of wealth accumulation was never seen before. Indeed, even in the times of Emperors, kings and Queens, and putting aside the means by which these individuals took advantage of people of their time, the amount of wealth accumulated was limited by the location and the speed at which the transfer of wealth could take place.

The internet has rendered both location and speed of transfer meaningless to people in position to accumulate said  wealth. With governments gradually abdicating their responsibilities to ensure that society remains fair to all its members, it does not look like the direction of travel will change any time soon. Especially since the very billionaires that claim to work in the benefit of people make the most of their lobbying power to maintain the status quo.

This collage uses a subset from a collection of NFT that will launch soon and that is meant to remind us all that no amount of work, intelligence, luck, etc. is worth more than hundreds of thousands of wealth generated by most people in their life time.

Privilege comes in many type, shape and form. The question must be ask however if there is ever a time where it ok for ones privilege to put them so far beyond the reach of anyone else.  Oxfam GB  are not the online making the connection between inequality and privilege on their YouTube channel. Is Success Luck or Hard Work?  on the Veritasium  YouTube channel and Students Learn A Powerful Lesson About Privilege  on the BuzzFeedVideo  YouTube channel are excellent videos for those who seek to understand why the answer to that question must never be "yes".

For what they have achieved, most people would agree that they deserve to be wealthy and live comfortably. However, this reward should never come at the cost of the rest of the world scrambling for left overs. One can be happy for the success of a few while wanting everyone else to be able to live a decent life.

Please reach out if have suggestions on how to represent the rest of the world as that will be the theme of my next collection of NFT.
