Yes, the Asgard finally died out when their genetic experiment to revive their race failed. They blew themselves up to prevent the Ori and the Replicators from getting their technology.

In a day. Most likely less. I read all 7 HP books in about 8 hours, followed by the Eragon series in 5. That's 11 books right there. After that, I read Graceling and Fire (its prequel) in only 1 1/2 hours, give or take 10 minutes. Then I read the first few books in The Ranger's Apprentice series, so about three or four books, before finally crashing. And all that was on a roadtrip. So, yes, I DID actually keep track of time.
