Description
The intent was to make this look like something out of the pages of an old humor magazine,hence the artificial "worn" look. In fact,this was directly inspired by MAD magazine #162,the October '73 issue; the article,Old Standards Re-Written For The Liberated Woman,which included a gender-reversed take on the illustration you see here....except the male soldier in the original was allowed to keep his socks and underwear.

I have many gifts,but writing good song parodies definitely isn't one of them. Instead of The Marines' Hymn,as used in the article,I chose this notable Irving Berlin song,and subsequently mangled it beyond all recognition. What can I say....Weird Al Yankovic I'm NOT.

9/17/2020.....I decided to re-do the image,(without re-submitting the whole piece) as I wasn't happy with the original. Also,I used Picasa to further sell the visual idea that this is from an old humor magazine; if you look closely at some of the blank areas,you'll see a backwards portion of a Lighter Side page from an old issue of MAD was lightly superimposed,as if it were on the opposite side of the page.
