Some fanart from the OVA masterpiece Fight! Iczer-1 loosely based on the ending scene of episode one where, after the first battle is one Nagisa's grief and despair over losing her parents to the Cthulhu aliens overcomes her again leading Iczer-1 to try in vain to comfort her knowing too well that none of this trauma would happen if her war hadn't been brought to Earth.

It's a somber moment in the OVA which up until that point had been a roller coaster of horror and action (and alien sex) and thus when the action dies down the gravity of the situation sets in. We as the audience feel for Nagisa and want her-and Iczer-1-to be happy and hope that they are able to get it. The fact it took a year for episode 2 to get release probably helped that anxiety and dread the audience had back then settle in. Pretty great stuff, and more proof that anime truly peaked in the 80's and 90's with the Sci Fi and Fantasy OVA boom.
