you bet it does... while i was crying i was also so excited...it was without a doubt the best surprise i ve ever had in my entire life.... besides.. it's pretty dark... when we imagine such a nice person sacrificing so much to the point of killing everyone he loves... it's such a sad.. but in the same time awesome... envolving story... best thing i ve ever read ^^

You know how they say that ninjas shouldn't let their emotions interfere with their missions etc, but even Itachi couldn't fully do that, even he who was master in all kinds of combat, and was probably the best example of how the ninja should be, couldn't kill his emotions completely, that's why he let Sasuke live, and even protected him after he left the village..
And about his mission, well I guess as ninjas they need to know they'll have to make hard desissions sometimes, but what makes Itachi's situations worse is he was only 13 years old then, even though he was ANBU Captain and saw a lot of aweful things that's still too young age..and I still wonder why, why did Hokage had to give him that mission, why couldn't he do it himself, he was supposed to be strongest ninja in Konoha, unless he thought 13 year old kid is better than him, why couldn't he do it..?

well... the Hokage couldn t kill his own people... besides... the 3rd Hokage didn t agree with that idea.. Danzou and the Elders made Itachi do that... It had to be Itachi.. because it would seem suspiccious the fact that only sasuke and his brother survived... and the killer... the hokage couldn t be the killer of a Konoha clan...an the only one who could do it was Itachi... for the reasons you already know which are written in volume 43 ^^
everything as a logical explinationin Naruto ^^ that's what makes it so special... and the best thing ever made in this world.. (in my opinion ^^)
