Description This is my first attempt at making a map using a conjunction of Wilbur and Photoshop, and I am quite proud of the results. It took me a week to accomplish, and most of that was putting in the names of all the towns and cities. I used a random generator to name all of the countries and a majority of the cities. Steob Stryae is pronounced Steeb Stree, btw.

The setting is a from my homebrew Pathfinder campaign also called Theranthia. It is a realm where the standard fantasy races are a minority and the majority of the population is descended from humans that were part of a mad wizards attempt at creating an army of super soldiers by adding the strengths of animals to humans. The experiment was a total success, except that the subjects never wanted to be soldiers, so they rebelled, destroyed the wizards tower, killed the mad wizard, and spread out into the world to return to their homes and families. These people, known henceforth as the Therianth, were not anthropomorphic animals. They were still clearly human, but had minor traits resembling those of the animal they were augmented from. For example, one Therianth may have small bull horns, another may have a catlike tail, and yet another may have feathers along the underside of her arms. Prejudice against these individuals was almost nonexistent as their physical differences were considered exotic, and their strengths were quickly put to use in whatever work they found.

The campaign begins 1,000 years later. Therianths have proven to be capable of breeding with humans and each other, but oddly, Therianths of two different types never create a half-breed. There is a 30% chance of the child being the fathers Therianth type, a 55% of the mothers Therianth type, and a 15% chance of the child being a normal human. Tharianths are accepted as humans, period. All other races see them as such, and treat them as such. Otherwise, it is a typical fantasy setting set in an early Victorian era-like time period. Firearms are common, photography is the new technology impressing the masses, and the age of exploration is dying out. It is a time of political conniving, scientific study, and the birth of modern warfare.

Spellcasters huddle themselves into Hermetic Lodges, making the study of magic rarer than ever. Alchemy is seen as a scientific endeavor, not magical. The major deities of good, law, and neutrality have joined into a single mighty church seeking to further the causes of civilization, meaning that most clerics are emissaries of a single unified temple, similar to a polytheistic Vatican. Warriors are warriors as always, typically soldiers and the like. Finally, Bards have expanded there repertoire into writing, with most bards that aren't travelling entertainers (still a common sight) being journalists and writers. The age of the printed word is in full swing.

I post this map in hopes that others will make good use of it as well. If you use this in your campaign, please leave comments detailing your experiences. Any questions regarding the various areas? Ask away, that's what the comment section is for.
