I wanted to do my influence map since a few time, for the fun, but also to think of what are the artists/things I take inspiration from. First, I thought of illustrations, then writing. Hence the different kind of influences... I'll explain those a bit.
Didier Crisse : He's a french comics illustrator, one of the first I've known, and still one of my favourite.
Books : Every kind of books... from fiction to essays.
Marseilles : For it is the town I grew up in, my home, with its specific light, the Mediterranean Sea, the Mistral (the wind). A place I'm hardly far of. Picture is mine, the MuCEM.
La Rue Ketanou : A French band I discovered a few time ago, between gipsies, folk, oriental sonorities... Their main themes are street's life, nomade life... They sing about the society-forgotten. La Fiancée de l'eau, Les Hommes que j'aime
Fantasy : Such as books, this is wide... The image is from the french cover of Daughter of the Forest, Juliet Marillier's novel, illustrated by Benjamin Carré.
Olly Moss : He's a british illustrator, born in 1987, who make graphic posters of well known books/movies... I'm found of his work's esthetics. His website : [link]
Hito76 : She's my favourite, and one of the most inspiring (for me) french artist here on dA. I like her style's purity and elegance. Her profile : ~Hito76
Cats : Always distinguished creature... Especially here xD Picture is mine
Laurent Mauvignier : He's a French writer, published by Les Editions de Minuit. He writes dark prose about loneliness, free-violence, and injustice... He's style is like a train of thoughts, one idea linked to another, in a very living way. His novels might be difficult to read since they are about hard parts of being human, but I highly recommend them to french-speakers...
Jean-Claude Izzo : Another great french novelist, who've written about Marseilles, Mafia, and the immigrant status in the 90' France. I totally recognize myself in his books, same sight on the Phocean City... I felt like he've put words on my own feelings. Picture is mine, Marseille's area of Panier, Montée des Accoules.
Hugo Pratt : For he was, perhaps, the best comic illustrator ever... I am in love with Corto Maltese since I cross his pages.
Architecture : ... And yet I'm a terrible backgrounds-drawer... Yeah... But I still can spend hours watching at a building. Picture is mine, inside the MuCEM.
Politics : It's what motivate me to write, directely or not, most of the time. It's what motivate me to comit myself in professional projects...
Undies : For sensuality, elegance, pinups and all that... Picture is mine
