Description
Arborosuchus: The Tree Climbing CrocodileArborosuchus is a 22-foot-long Crocodile that climbs the fungal fur trees and gigantic Coral Forests of Phuturan Age Gothalebra.
This once small crocodile evolved from South American caimans, some possibly retaining the ancient DNA strands of prehistoric arboreal crocs such a Mekosuchus of New Caldonia fame.
They possess odd body traits, including a thick boned anvil-shaped head, which they use to both bump on tree branches to dislodge small prey and occasionally to bump on each other's heads during mating season.
Arborosuchus also has very long front arms, which appear almost primate-like in design.
This is a clear adaptation for climbing the huge trees of Gothalebra's inner jungles.
They also have very sharp and hardened claws to stick into tough bark and cactoid enamels of many of the tallest terrestrial corals, which in some cases can be as tall as city skyscrapers.
Arborosuchus live almost entirely in the mid-range of the giant forests but need to bask on the upper limbs of the canopy when the early morning sun rises.
This is to bask in the light, since they are still cold blooded to a large degree.
Their diet includes such things as Beetle Squabs, Wobble Owls, and other Phuturan Age fowl.
However, they can at times band together during autumn months when food is scarcer to hunt in teams the many larger animals that use the upper forests as their temporary shelter, such as Spring Spiders, Mole Bucks, and Fraggle Deer.
