ATTACK AT THE DIG SITE

Inside the protective tent, SabreJack and the 4 Olm Archeologists continued to converse about the dark and hellish past that made mankind extinct.

But unknowing to them, the Salem Alchemists witches were already spying on them, they had been for months, watching the Olms, to steal whatever precious gem of discovery they might reap.

Outside, carefully observing, as they were hanging from a tree, were the conjoined acrobatic twins, Flaxen and Domestica.

The leaders to the Salem Alchemists Coven, these two had called in help, this was from 4 witch assassins and a Japanese Mecha-Ninja named Sin Chi Pan.

He had been a cautious ally to the witches ever since Chicago landed in the Phuturan Age.

By now, the white cotton bloom pollen, was falling down all around the area, like soft flakes of ashy snow.

It seemed a great time to pull the ambush...

The witches wanted to capture them and Sin Chi Pan threw a gas pellet inside the tent to smoke them out.

At the first sign of trouble, SabreJack motioned for the 4 Olms to crawl under the tent to escape.

They did so, but barely, as the tent was tightly pinned to the ground, which gave the small Olms just enough space to crawl to safety.

SabreJack pressed an alert button on his chest plate and it fastened his armor in bullet-proof mode.

He then ran through the thick smoke and rolled outside of the tent.

To his surprise, he saw Sin Chi Pan already in a fighting stance, holding two 3-pronged Sai forks in his grip.

He recognized him from before the teleportation of Chicago; from a battle in the old Conformity Wars.

He was a Japanese assassin from a Neo-Ninja group called the Cyber Ghosts.

But he did not have time to reminisce, as the Ninja rushed at him, slashing at him with his sharp Sai weapons.

In an instant, SabreJack ignited his Chain-Sword and extended it to full length.

His rotating chain blade caught the Dura-steel Titanium Sai, just before it could impale his face!

The Cyber Ghost Ninja was face to face with him now, and he could see the ceremonial tradition the assassin had undertaken to peel the skin from his face.

It was a Yakuza ritual that must have landed him high on the ranking scale of assassins.

Behind them, 3 scantily clad witches were circling them, while they fought, each one yelling and overly excited, as they blew poison darts at him, which many had just glanced off his hard graphene armor.

A half naked witch, with an Ace of Spade tattoo on her back was making freakish calls, just outside the fighting circle.

And there, among the thick snow-like cotton blooms that they were ankle deep in, SabreJack could see a swarm of Black Bullet Gnats heading towards them in the distance.

The poison bugs where quickly zeroing in on him, and he seen them beckon to the witch's call like a black cloud.

He knew he would be overpowered and outnumbered soon.

So SabreJack took a Micron-detonator he had fastened to his rib-plate and set the timer for 5 seconds.

He parried his blade in a wild arc, and managed to push back the savage Ninja, just in time to throw the bomb on the floor between them.

Both the witches and the Ninja, expressed a moment of shock, as the detonator ticked down.

SabreJack took advantage of the distraction and ran towards his Bright Cycle that he had hid among a row of Joorie Corals earlier.

In a mad leap, he raced his hover-bike to safety just in time, while the bomb blew up, igniting the cloud of Black Bullet Gnats on fire, and pushing the witches and the Ninja backward, as they flew several feet in the air from the heated shock wave.

As he rushed off in his escape, he thought of how easy he had been ambushed.

It was a silly mistake for him and the Olms to trek to the dig site without protection, but now he'd learned another lesson that would add to his cruel experience in the Gothalebrian wilds.
